I'd like to do the C7 Z06 hood louvers. Anybody do that yet or have a part number?

The Stingray hood vent (part number 23443656) is coming up as "discontinued" or "No longer available" for some odd reason

Why is it mounted so high up on the hood? It will probably work fine on the car, while sitting still in traffic, but once you get up to speed, because of the placement it will no longer function that well. Needs to be lower on the hood, so the air is coming up through the radiator and leaving through the vent.

I think that the problem is that the nose of the vette starts to turn down sharply. The bottom of the vent stats to hit the intake. There is a limit on how far down the vent can sit and still clear the intake. I think it was stated in a different thread that the cut being started at the 10.5-11 inches down is about the limit before causing the vent to really press up against the intake.

vent came out great! Can you post up pics or better description on how you attached the vent to the hood please.

He's going for the pressure differential or cowl induction.
I'm not sure if the air is going in or out of the vent, but it looks cool.

Make some brackets from 1/8 x 3/4 aluminum. Some make 6 individual brackets. Myself and others have done 3 instead that go right across the vent. Could be overkill but thinking it might make up for any rigidity lost by cutting the hood brace. Also need 6 times 6mm x 1.0 nuts and washers. They don't come with the scoop.

Painting to match the body color is so much better looking. Gets rid of the 1980's JC Whitney add-a-scoop look where you couldn't afford a can of spray paint to finish the job.

I've been considering some form of vent installation for awhile, and seeing this painted looks TONS better than it did before. Might just have to jump on the project now! Great job OP!

Nothing happens. That is like wondering what happens if water gets in through the front grill on the motor. All connectors are weatherpak sealed connectors, and everything is made to get wet. Only way to mess that up is to put the air filter right under a vent or something, but even then it wouldn't have much if any effect.

Every time I wash my car, hose out the whole engine bay and keep it nice and clean.

Considering the knock sensors haven't been under the intake manifold since 2004, I have no qualms rinsing the (cold) engine off either.

Color matched looks great on your silver vette. Can you post other pictures of your car from further away. like you car in a parking lot as such so that we can see the full car with painted hood to get a better idea of how the whole package looks? Thanks bud!

I've noticed 2 forum members decided to install it in different places

The red C6 installed it closer to the windshield vs the convertible is about 6" more towards the front.

Is there a benefit or was it just by choice

I think it's just a matter of preference. I find it looks more "centered" when further front. Just my preference.
