Default Heads/Cam dyno numbers

Just got back from Race proven Motorsports and a huge thank you goes out to the whole crew there. Super friendly and very knowledgeable. Long story short car made 610whp and 534wtq through a bone stock non ported ls7 intake manifold and throttle body. I installed all the parts myself and brought it back to them for a tune. Hopefully after the holidays a fast 102 or msd will go on and see if we can get 630-640 out of it. Mods are listed below.

08 c6Z
Halltech cf112 cai
Arh 2" longtubes non catted
B&B exhaust
Mantic twin disc
ATI udp
Raceproven B3 cam
Raceproven/AI ported stock heads
Raceproven tune

Hmm.. must be a massive cam with a peak hp and it seems kinda low on tq with a peak HP number over 600. Big dip there.. Where's the FAST 102 NW combo or MSD? You can't do that with the LS7 intake mani etc. Everything else looks good. Compression ratio? Looks nice.

Those are pretty stout numbers. I have heard good things about the B3 cam.

The dip in torque in the beginning is just the pickup on the Dyno not reading in that rpm range. The cam is not massive by any means. I'd say it's mediocre in size. Compression is high 11's I believe it's 11.8 static. Intake mani is coming soon.

I'm not sure if Fran wants the specs posted but if so I'm sure he'll hop in and post them.

Cam is a 24x/25x. Not big by any means on a 427. This heads cam setup has been low 10's at 138+ on MULTIPLE cars we have done over the years. Can't wait to see how fast he goes with it

Fuel is 93 Oct pump gas right from Sunoco. I was planning on going to the track this weekend but it looks like they won't be open as they are closed for the season. I guess it'll have to wait until spring. Goal is 9.xx at 140+ mph

I realize there is way more to a camshaft profile than the simple .050" lift specs and LSA, but if that cam has a lower LSA on it, say 112 or less, I'd have to say that it would be too much trouble for a daily driver or long distance touring car. Yes, I know it probably isn't used in that way and is probably a weekend warrior vehicle, but I have a considerably smaller cam, with overlap @ 16, and I lost some drivability. I feel that my setup is on the fringe of annoying when driving for lengthy amounts.

It's all relative, but in my book, a cam that large will likely have 20+ overlap. I've heard enough from Michael D to know it's probably not a street "friendly" setup for most of us.

Even still, its a well done job and it looks like it is 20rwhp above the expected results . Granted, dyno's are only tuning tools in the end.

Would that cam setup benefit from 3.90's? I feel like 3.90's would get the car deep into the 9's.

It's exactly that relative. The car is a weekend warrior that maybe gets 1000-1500 miles a year on it. On my last c6 I had a big cam in it and you just learn how to drive with it. After a few drives it's almost like it's not there. I will say this cam drives better then the cam I had in my last c6. As far as the 3.90's go I definitely feel it would benefit the car. I just wish they made a gearset for the z rears as I'm not about to put a base c6 rear in the car.

I thought there was an entire pumpkin upgrade for the Z?

http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/page48.html

$3K though. Kinda expensive but $/E.T. improvement it is probably the best mod available.

That's NOT a C6Z diff. They don't make gearsets for the diff. It's a standard C6 diff beefed up to fit the widebody C6's subframes etc.
