Default Longest Road Trip in your Z06

Just bought my forth Corvette and this time, it was a Z06 (2006), pics coming soon. I see a lot of folks run the Z06 as a DD, but was wondering, how many have taken their Z06 on long road trips and how far did they go? Live in Arizona and would like to take the wife to Vegas in the Z06, pretty short trip, but wanted to see how far others have driven and how the car handled and felt on a long road trip.

The worst part is the potential for door dings. I've driven mine 6 hours north and south of where I live and it's H/C/I.

Default Monument, CO to Winterpark, CO

My longest was about 240 miles roundtrip, Monument, CO (near Colorado Springs) to Winterpark, CO. I taped off the front splitter and part of the rockers, the rest has Clear Bra on it. Bottom line is if you drive it, it will get chips on the paint if not protected.

Chicago to Washington DC, 700 miles, 14 hours.

The car was fine but I hated driving on some of the roads that were under repair because of all of the loose gravel and debris.

Gone from SLC to Durango, to ABQ, to Phx, to Vegas, to SLC. Was ~1800 miles I think.

Drove mine 200 miles to a private track rental, ran 10.905@126.99 with my ~500whp C6Z, and drove home the same day on my Weld RTS drag pack. Only change was the air pressure in the tires.

I also took the car 200 miles down to Shift Sector with the wife and a bunch of stuff crammed in the back.

Besides the seats and road noise, the car does pretty well.

North Dakota - Wisconsin - Delaware - New York - Wisconsin - North Dakota. It was roughly a 5,000 mile round trip. It handled it fine. About 300 miles of that was in torrential rain and another 200 in normal rain. Cam, headers, no cats, and Borla ATAKs is a pretty loud combo.

200 miles isn't even a road trip. I make that drive pretty often just to get dinner.

Damn, I would need a designated ramp truck for a dinner like that. I like to drink. That or get a room and come home the next day.

Things change when you move to the Midwest and a 200 mile round trip Is required to get to the closest "big" city.

When I was in California, a 45 mile drive was an adventure that required weeks of planning, lol.

i live in detroit mi, flew to orange county ca bought my car, and drove it home. i took the long way, and didn't track the mileage, didn't worry about stone chips, or getting the car dirty, as I knew it was getting a FULL detail and service when i got home... I went from O.C. CA to las vagus the first day, day two was vagus to moab UT, day three was moab to crested butte CO, from there we drove straight to detroit. the drive was EPIC!! we didn't go on an expressway, or eat at a chain restaurant until we were east on denver... I can't say enough good things about the car's road manners.

It is amazing how driving distances vary so much from one part of the country to another...In Alaska we'll drive a couple of hundred miles to have lunch or breakfast in some of the interesting small communities nearby...

My Z06 is in Kentucky and we'll regularly take it on 1,000+ mile road trips just to get out and have a fun drive. We usually stick to the backroads to keep the sights interesting! Fun/long road trips are one of the main reasons I have this car (I prefer older cars) but I like having something that's interesting and reliable for trips! The car handles it perfectly and you just have to be careful and slow down a bit when the rain hits.

I think the biggest thing to comfort for long trips in these cars is more on the individual (physical build and attitude)...If the seats fit your build well and you tolerate a bit of road noise and bumps, then you'll love the long trips in the Z!!

NY to Chicago and back. NY to Bowling Green and back. Each one equally distant. About 950 each way. No problems with the car. noisy yes. rough ride ....Yes. Mileage ...great. Only problem is that America is under Construction . never fails . road construction everywhere.

Correct, 200 miles each way isn't very far (my daily commute is 100 miles round trip). However, I believe it is notable when you see 99% of the other cars at these events coming off a trailer from even shorter distances. And many times running slower!

I have driven my 2008 Z06 to the museum three times now. Twice from Santa Rosa, CA and once from my current home in Reno. One of the first two from Santa Rosa ended up being over 7,000 miles. In all, about 20,000 of my current 33,000 miles have come from the three trips. Great road car. Here is a link to my last trip:

I drove mine 950 miles the first two days I owned it. Des Moines to West Texas.
.
Longest trip, round trip to Denver and back, 1900 miles, averaged 26.5 mpg doing mostly five over the speed limit.

Drive it!

This Spring, nearly 6,000 miles from Spokane, WA, to Savannah, GA, and back + side trips.

Picture taken at the most famous plantation in The South, Savannah, GA.

2700 miles, NH to AZ. a thousand mile day is not a big chore.

I drop my wife off in Vegas on my way to Ely,NV for the Silver State challenge just six hours up the road from here.
