Just picked up my 2011 Z06.
This car had only 3,800 miles and it looks in new condition. I had Carmax rack the car and I looked over every inch of the car and I could not find any issue.
I was able to determine that the car was sold to Carmax by the original owner. According to the warranty and service records, nothing has ever been done to the car. Carmax had to replace the battery and change the oil but that was it.
They changed the oil with a synthetic blend, Dexos 5W30, so I replaced the oil with 7.5 quarts of Castrol 0W40 and 3 quarts of Red Line 5w30 when I got home.
There are a few things that I have noticed.
1. I can smell oil in the cabin of the car. I thought that maybe Carmax spilled some oil but I was not able to locate any oil when I looked over the car. After doing some searches it seems that other owners have experienced this. Any ideas about what would be causing this other than oil spilled on the exhaust. My car is still under warranty, until 03/25/2016. Should I take it to the dealership to have them figure it out.
2. I found a Mild to Wild switch in the fuse box, but I do not have any remotes. Is is possible to get the remotes. It appears that the switch is keeping the flaps open.
3. Is there anything that I should try to get done since I still have 2 months of warranty left.
Thanks

Don't try to worry about the small stuff. You have a great American Corvette Z06 with the best and most options.. super car performance/ beast mode qualities. The oil smell will go away. Even with low miles I would recommend a new cabin air filter. Fram (Arm & Hammer) baking soda one.. neutralized funky odours in my Z when fan was on.

I had the oil smell too when the car was new and it didn't go away till something like 15,000 miles. I only noticed it when idling at a stoplight or whenever the car was at a stop for a while. Once moving I didn't smell anything. I could not figure out the reason for it and could not find the source of it but I eventually forgot about it and noticed one day that it was gone and never came back. But like wantbluC6 said, a cabin filter such as the (with baking soda) will help a bit with the odor in the meantime.
Some of the mild to wilds can be set to have the valves closed by default. The one sold by the now defunct Sunset Orange Creations had this capability. Unfortunately their website is no longer up so instructions aren't available. Worst-case, you can take out the mild to wild and just put the 10 amp fuse back if you want the valves closed at low RPM. Here are instructions for one of the mild to wilds that can give you an idea of how to reverse the mod if you so desire.
Don't let these minor issues interfere with your enjoyment!

I use the "old school" M2W model which is a heavy duty button mounted out of site on your dead pedal. No remotes....just a quick tap of the button with your left foot to operate the exhaust flaps.

I too had the same oil smell in my car. I purchased it with 6,300 miles. I was never able to find the source. The smell went away when I replaced the heads, cam and exhaust.

Interesting. I am planning on doing heads and cam so I guess that gives me some incentive to get it done.
Thanks

Put a new air filter in. If you still smell oil take it to the dealer. You have nothing to loose since you are still under warranty.

I did this after finding out you cant get the remote separately. There are literally millions of possible codes and they won't be able to match it. Check if your homelink is controlling it and if not, buy the unit in the link. I got it, added a fuse holder and a blade connector and done. It's a five minute install and 50 bucks cheaper than the M2W. It's literally the exact same thing minus the sticker.

The only time I had an oil smell was when I spilled a little oil on the cat/exhaust when changing my oil. I am now more careful and have never had the "smell" again. If you don't change your own oil, it is VERY easy for a "tech" to get some on the exhaust, where it will burn off and cause the problem.

Great looking car!
My '09 has never had the oil smell, but I always do my own oil changes and am very careful not to spill any, so I'm guessing they may have spilled a few drops. Since you have a warranty getting ready to expire, I'd take it to the shop and have them give it a look over for good measure. While there you can confirm whether or not they had the headlight wire recall done (just a small replacement wire to prevent previous separation that caused a malfunction).
Contact Ken Fitchner and discuss an extended warranty if you're interested since he has some pretty good information.
Congrats on a great color and enjoy!

A little spill (oil smell) can last for a long time... My buddy had it when someone did his oil change at first... It will go away!!! Fuggedaboudit!

Wand wash the motor.. or exhaust manifolds as deep towards the cats as you can get.. that may take care of it (oil residue) or when you swap cam headers that will do it.
