Who and how much for wiggle test?
What is a good price to have someone check my heads on my just purchased 08Z? Would any GM dealership know about this or only like performance shops?

Mostly "LS" specialty performance shops. GM has rendered the wiggle test invalid so most of the few dealerships that did it don't do it anymore. I know of only 1 or 2 nationwide that still do it and none of those are near you. You'll just have to call around unless another member here knows of a shop near you.
Shops should charge $200 to $500.

If you are concerned about the heads, dont waste your money getting them checked, just pull them and have them fixed. I went through the same thing when I bought my 07 in January. Talked to 3 local shops who said 200-300 to check them and that was only checking 1 side. I decided instead of spending money to have them checked I was just going to put that money towards having them fixed.

You may be able to find a local forum member near you to assist with the DIY check. Might just cost you pizza and beer...never know.

An early draft of Hib's procedure was followed to check my valve to guide clearances last summer at 62k miles and the bill totaled just over $500 (all were checked since none were found to be out of spec).
Late last year I was contacted by the guy at GM that is responsible for all head manufacturing (I wish I could remember his name ... I'm gonna call him Bill). Four years ago we on the forum figured out that about 1/2 of the LS7s had a geometry problem. Bill verified that from 2006 to 2009 GM used two different companies for final machining of LS7 heads. He knew about my tool and asked me to ship it to him, which I did.
Root cause ... still most likely not pedestal machining, but rather valve guide angle. In either case the result is that the rocker pallet "rolls" off of the edge of the valve stem. This results in high side forces in the guides.

Vengeance Racing is just outside Atlanta (215 miles). Give them a call if you can't find anyone closer. They did my car 3 years ago.

Hmmm... at 88K miles E-V-E-R-Y single valve guide on my 07 Z was within GM's specs. This was 100% heads off verified by WCCH. They ALL are not bad.

When they "fix" them is it true they aren't really fix for good? Guess I'm trying to justify paying to get them checked if it's not a ton more to just "fix" them.

I've checked them both on and off the car. I even have two brand new sets in my garage right now. If I didn't just have back surgery, I would tell you to come up to Clarksville and I would help you out. If you don't get them checked in the next month or so maybe I can help then.
