Default Adjusting height with stock bolts question

I am trying to raise the height on my 08 Z. The previous owner lowered it all the way on the stock bolts. I have looked up some videos on the web. I had a couple questions though.

Do I need to have the weight of the suspension to adjust the bolts? I planned on picking up one side at at time using the lifting points and pucks, but also thought about trying to do it with it on the ground?

Any advice or pics would be appreciated.

A floor jack with a block of wood or whatever applied to the underside of the springs makes turning the bolts a lot easier.

In fact, the spring MUST be unloaded to make the adjustment or else you risk damaging the rubber pad on the end of the screw.

What I do is support the car on jackstands then use a bottle jack ontop of a block with a small wood block on its pad to jack up the spring tip just so it is off the control arm, then I adjust the spring bolt. Also, you don't want to bottom the pad on the spring, leave 060 or so free space.
