Default Ran the car at the track...........

................and did pretty good (driver has been away from the 1/4 a bit so he needs a little bit of a driver mod).

I got it into the 10's, that run was a 10.9731@131.96mph. There were 2 other runs where if I didn't botch them would've been in the 10's too.

My other decent et's were an 11.0161@130.41mph, 11.0368@129.68mph and 11.0730@127.17mph (hit the rev limiter in 3rd on that pass).

Best mph was an 11.1791 pass @ 132.42mph.

Was hooking about a high 1.7 to low 1.8 on Hoosier DR's. Still not the greatest and the clutch acted up on me once (no cool down on that pass).

Pretty happy and best part was driving it home after with AC on, looks like the HCI swap that I did last winter is working decent, still lots more potential there to drop another 2/10th or more.

Will be scanning the slips and get them on the fast list.

Tony

I am curious, what were you launching at? I am on a stock clutch and am launching at 3200 and getting 1.64s. I love to compare guys slips.

Usually around 3k sometimes 3.5k. Would like to try a 4k launch sometime but driving it home is more a priority for me with a stock clutch then getting every last bit of et out of it.

My DR's are also 5+ years old, a fresh set would help there and most likely when I do get new ones I will switch to another brand, was never really impressed with what the Hoosiers did for me. The BFG DR (worn set given to me by another CF member) that I had before felt better on launch.

edit: didn't have video of the 10.97 pass I did. Friends showed up late so I gave one of them my phone to do some vids and while filming was when I had the driver mod issue. The only real decent pass I did with him filming is below. This is the 11.07pass when I hit the rev limiter in 3rd (also bogged a bit on a 3k launch). Mph on that pass was 127mph.

Again more driver improvement will put the car consistently into the 10's and trap over 130.

Glad your back at the track!!!!

You will get back in the swing of things very quickly and 1/4 miles times will improve as a result. The run in the video is not a bad run. Still running an 11.07 pass with a bog off the line and hitting the rev limiter in 3rd..... Sound like you have a very quick car and it also sounds like you chose the correct combo.

Thank you again for using our cylinder heads!!! If you ever have any questions let us know.
Once you get back in the swing of it post up one of your run for comparison sake (rusty vs back in the grove).

P.S. Looks like a beautiful day outside. Great day to be at the track!!!

This is more of a question than it is a comment, but wouldn't dropping the 60' by a tenth translate to 2 or 3 tenths at the 1/4? (assuming you hit the shift points with decent shifting speed)

What was the DA?

Don't know the DA that day at the track. I usually think dropping a tenth or two in your 60' time will translate to the same decrease in et at the 1/4 mile mark.

Here's the timeslip on that 10.97 pass.

Nice going!
There's time to be made up on your 60' and your shifts. I had GREAT success on 315/17 Hoosier DR's. Yours were pretty old and may have lost some of their bite.

Did you do a burnout? What front & rear PSI were you running?
Did you stage as shallow as possible?
What RPM's did you shift at?

I've also made 3-4 successive passes at a rental, where no one went down the track between my passes. The clutch was fine. Not only that, I always ran the best times out of that set of passes on either the 3rd or 4th pass.

You have decently good MPH since you have heads/cam. I think fresh DR's (I hope you stick with Hoosiers) , the answers to the few questions I asked you, and a little more technique work/track days and you'll see a nice improvement!

Good luck!

Ron

hello, yes I know there is quite a bit of room for improvement especially on my 60ft time. I really am not a drag racer I like doing the twisties more and have done a few lapping days with my Shelby (haven't done something like that in the Z yet but did try out the tricky triangle at Pocono a few years back).

I have a lineloc on the car and yes did a burnout on the 10.97 pass. I usually run 16 psi on my 315/30/18 DR's mounted on C5 Z06 rear wheels. I'm thinking of maybe changing to a 17" size wheel so I can run a 40-45 series type DR with a bit more sidewall so I will look into that. The front I run my street wheel setup pumped up to 45psi at the track.

I always try to creep my car into the stage beam till the second stage light just comes on so yes I like to shallow stage. I shift around 68-6900rpm. I probably should've told the tuner to bump the rev limiter up to 7200 or so to give me some room so what happened in the video won't happen again.
