I ran stock gaskets with wcch ported heads and ARH 1 7/8 and they did slightly block the flow on the bottom of the ports.

Would a leaking exhaust gasket cause a high speed skip in the engine? I had that skip under strong throttle at 4K+ RPM in 2nd, 3rd and 4th..All the spark plugs look really good and the wires to the coils all seem tight on both ends.

I don’t know. But if there was something happening from an exhaust leak I would imagine it would manifest itself as a misfire that could be seen on a datalogger. If misfires were what you were feeling.

Drove the car 250 miles to a Shift S3ctor at Coalinga. Car didn’t skip a beat. Downshifted into 5th over the grapevine pass, averaged 16 mpg. Refueled at an E85 station.

Ill post up results tomorrow. Dyno early next week. Remote tuning it showed that it required about 4% more fuel...I won’t pretend to guess what that means in terms of A > B hp value. Just saying it needed more fuel. Injector DC went from 63 to 66%.

Support truck behind me...tires and tools.
That turbo S2000 revved on me. I didn’t want none, he probably has over a hundred thousand dollars under that hood.

I didn't do data logging. No codes showed up however on OBDII reading. It did seem like mis-fire as it would kick in under near or full throttle around 4K RPM. When that happened, I'd upshift unless I was already in 4th gear. At this little track I would not normally go to 4th and if I did it would be once per lap. On my last 2 (of 3) sessions I'd go to 4th 4 times due to mis-fire in 3rd. On the 1st corner it would mis-fire in 2nd just about track out, so I'd upshift to 3rd quickly.

Exhaust leak would not.

Having a MSD manifold, I would check for vacuum leaks. They are known to loosen up. Could have a leak now.

Finally got a 170 mph pass! Very proud of the car. There’s more left in it with some optimization and practice. Still on unmodified factory mufflers. Im going to hit the dyno tomorrow if possible.

Awesome Josh! Congrats....I think there is more there as well

Looking forward to the dyno with the larger headers

What was the D/A that day and do you remember the D/A when you were in Texas? Also what was your fastest half mile result in Texas.....I want to say high 160's from memory?

Good to see you getting out there and really enjoying the car also....thats what its all about!

Thanks Tony! By the time I nailed 170 the DA had climbed to 1674’, up from 514’ at the beginning of the race day. DA at the TM was almost identical (but winds sucked). I ran a 168mph half mile at the TM.

Ill try try to get to the dyno today if I can! Car was a blast to drive all weekend. Cruised 4 hours each way with AC CRUISE and a movie playing (Rocky Balboa).

I need to adjust my valve lash before I hit the dyno again. Hearing a little bit of noise since the "long" road trip and race weekend. I'll try to get to the dyno next week, reset the lash over the weekend. Delays delays.

Curiosity question: How many miles since last adjusted?

2000-3000 or so. I haven’t kept a record of mileage really. They seem to need a check after a race weekend, more WOT driving shortens the mileage interval.

Would it be something to do pre-race? Would be worth the hassle performance wise? I think so.

Very interesting.

If it's making some noise, I'll adjust them without the interval. They were quiet before the race. No, I don't think there's much performance benefit. Obviously it's best to floss twice a day, but most folks do it once because life gets in the way of laboring preventatively on some things.
