Engine arrived without oil pan and not wrapped
Just wondering what others think about this situation.
I bought a used LS7 with cam and headwork with 13000 miles from a forum member. He had the shop remove the engine from his car and prepare it to send to me.
It arrived with no oil pan and no valve covers, which I was aware of. The top of the engine was wrapped with packing plastic to protect the heads from debris, but the bottom was left open on an open pallet.
The engine was shipped from a reputable shop, mentioned on this forum several times. It seems to me they would have known better than to ship such an engine with the engine left open to the elements.
I feel that I have no choice but to tear this engine down to clean it. The bottom end is factory and has never been touched.
I'm quite disappointed.

Before being too disappointed or cleaning the entire thing why not call shop, ask why they shipped like this? Might just be there's a good reason or 2.

Wouldn't concern me at all. Not even a little bit.
Wipe it down with a rag for any obvious debris, and move on.

Agreed
Using common sense one can tell if its been through a sandstorm which is not likely
Put on stand and clean out with a can or two of brake clean and be done if one is paranoid. NO need to tear down.
