Comp cam
Curious if anyone has run this cam or one with similar specs. Would love to hear feed back on driveability.

I ran a very similar cam...little less intake duration. Very tunable, true, it took a bit of driveablity tuning but at the end I could drive in 6th at 50 MPH with no problems what so ever.
Pulled 136+MPH in San Antonio TX summer (2850DA).
Lastly, it sounded amazing!

The car that this cam is in is tuned by Sean Burt so I'm sure it has a solid tune. It has Texas speeds titanium .675 spring kit on it, 5 angle valve job, SS valves. I'm just worried about the high lift and the wear it will put on the valve train. Worrying about stuff and having to do a spring test and have things looked at every 15k miles isn't appealing to me

I have been researching cams for awhile now and thinking about switching out the cam that is in it for a more mild one. But it's pretty hard to come to a decision. It doesn't seem like there is a "mild" cam that everyone agrees on in this form. Every cam that I have looked at and researched has gotten mixed reviews and has people saying to go a different route because of this or that reason. There is just too many options and specs haha. It's going to be my DD with no track time. So in order of priority for me it is sound, durability and then performance.

Everyone has their own opinion on what is drivability, My K501 cam has less duration but otherwise similar. I have run race cars with full cam but this is the first street cam I have driven. I had performance event goals that took priority over street smoothness. I am pleased with how it runs on the street but it does have some mild surging and the clutch gets used a lot at below 10 MPH in 1st. The McLeod RXT 1000 clutch and billet steel flywheel are very street friendly.

I have been looking at the BTR stage 2 and Texas speed stage 2 because they are both under that .660 lift that I have seen a lot of people say isn't really Street friendly/ valvetrain friendly. But there aren't many sound clips for them. The car I'm looking at has AR headers, x pipe with high flow cats and borla atak mufflers. I will most likely be taking off the borlas though and doing the stock mufflers with a mil2wild switch. I don't want my neighbors to hate me..... well not too much.....

That cam has your priorities reversed. It should sound good, but much of that is from the header and muffler choices. Durability, expect detailed checks at 10 to 20K miles with that cam and required valve train. The alternative is too expensive. For very good street friendly a torquer 116 is a better DD choice but will give up 50 HP over the Comp cam (still 80+ over stock).

Custom spec a cam on modern endurance lobes from EPS or Cam Motion. Costs about the same as an off the shelf grind, but you get exactly what you want. As I stated in one of my PM's to you...if its me, I try to keep the lift south of .630-.635 to maintain a good wipe pattern with stock rockers.

Along with the lope comes the issues that pop up in stop and go traffic or in parking lots. Most of us that drive them put up with that for the performance but few DD them.
