Default Muffler delete ?

I took my car to an exhaust shop and they worked up a very nice price for me to do a muffler delete. It will use the factory clamps that connect to the H pipe, so if I hate it, I can remove it and out the stock mufflers back on. Question is, they said they won't be able to bend the 3 inch pipe the right way to clear the axle or something like that, but said they could with the 2.5 inch pipe. So they are gonna use 2.5 inch pipe for the axle back portion of the exhaust. Will their be any kind of issue going from the factory 3 inch H pipe to a 2.5 inch pipe? I'm figuring its so far down the line that it shouldn't make a difference.

I wouldn't do that to my car for any reason at all. I'm sure if you look around you can find some 3" muffler delete pipes specific to LS7 ZO6. Or your other option is to find a competent muffler shop.
Good Luck!!!

I agree with meanjoe, I would not cut any part of the exhaust down to 2.5".

I don't think it'll be a problem. The stock mufflers neck down to less than 2.5" either way.

Great thanks. I see what you're saying. It looks like once the pipes goes inside the muffler it actually shrinks down to less than 2.5, so the stock z06 exhaust already necks down to a 2.5 as it is, correct?

So what you're saying is it's OK to make the same screw up as the factory did? I would think if you're going to change it may as well fix it the right way.

idk what that exhaust shop is talking about, but I had my mufflers deleted and they chopped it off where it comes over the axle and replaced it with 3" piping to the new tips.

sounds killer BTW

i am having it done tomorrow. They are going to use the 3 inch pipe. I'm actually having them take the stock mufflers off at where they clamp onto the h pipe at and then using some really nice tips they have there. So it will be a bolt on system just like the aftermarket axle back systems and my factory mufflers will be perfectly in tact in case I want to put them back on. I will take pics and a video tomorrow and post

Had it done today. I had 3 inch pipes bolted right onto the H pipe where the stock mufflers bolt on, and the rest was bent and customized leading to a nice set of quad tips at the end. Everything was welded together other than the connection at the H pipe, so if I ever want to take it out it's a complete bolt on assembly.

I LOVE the way it sounds. Extremely deep at idle and screams at wide open. Inside the car it doesn't sound any different than any other exhaust I've had on my other cars (10 corvette, couple mustangs, etc). It's loud but not nearly as loud as some people made it out to be on here.

Drone is minimal, happens around 2-2.5k rpm but it's really not bad at all. About the same about as when I had BB bullets on my 2010 corvette.

The install took about three hours and the fit and finish of the entire system looks amazing. Not to mention, I think I shaved off about 50 pounds as those stock mufflers are very heavy.

Here are some some pics of the install and a video that does not do it justice at all, but still sounds pretty good in the video I think.

Here is is a link to the video I took

Very smart way to do it.
