Default Found a crack in my 2009 c6z06 rear spring.

Just what the title says, is this normal ? I am not sure what the wear on these springs looks like but that to me looks like beginning of a very shitty situation if that things snaps. Cracks propagate as far as I know and it does not look like it will get any better lol
Has anyone experienced something similar?

Not normal. I would not drive the car until it is replaced.

Agree its not normal, but I have witnessed this before. Don't drive it like that. Check in here to see if there's anyone selling a take off spring (hopefully local to you)...many people do when they go to coilovers.

Edit: Here, this guy has a rear spring for sale from an 08 C6Z: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-f-and-r.html

For $120 shipped, I'd snag that like yesterday if I were you.

Anyone know what might have caused this?

Yeah the roads here in Suckrament are fkn awful. Potholes out the bunns. Other side has the crack in similar manner just a bit smaller. I noticed the how it goes right down the "mold" line which makes me wonder if its a factory defect....

potholes, defective in the manufacture process, hole shots at the drag strip with drag radials. I would be inclined to think hard launches with drag radials.

I had mine crack on an '09 ZR1. As original owner I can tell you no drag racing, never dropped the clutch, no potholes or curb drops. Was told they do that so,etimes with age.

I agree, hard launches and wheel hop, mine broke at only 4000 miles on car from previous owner. Found it several years ago when I bought the car and replaced it with a new one. All good since. I always wondered if lowering them down all the way on stock bolts played a role as well. I now run mine about 3 turns from all the way down.
