Default Z06 H pipe autopsy

I got around to opening one of these things up and here is what I found.

The path between the pipes looks better from the outside than what really is on the inside.

I wasn't expecting a work of art, but that is pretty lame.

I have another one here still intact, how would you suggest I do it, since this is "pretty lame".

I think he was referring to the H pipe, not your efforts to depict it.

That's how I read it too... the lameness was directed at Chevy's work.

I swear I've seen this done before, and it was only like a 1" hole. Maybe that was on my C5Z?

Yes, the C5Z H-pipe had

a small hole in it. Might have been 1" but it was significantly smaller than the pipe size. In comparison, it makes the C6Z H-pipe look fantastic.

Default The right way

Back in the day you would run long pipes and spray paint them then start the car. Where the paint dried first is where the exhaust pulse its resonating in each pipe. Then make the connecting pipe go to each spot that dried because that is how you get the two pulses to add velocity, like adding two waves in phase as opposed to two waves crashing into each other. If that is not straight across, so be it, but that is how to get value out of an h pipe by taking advantage of the harmonics.

No worries! That's definitely an issue when reading what someone writes with no inflection or tone...It's crazy easy to for it to go one way or the other!

Well, guess they had to cut corners somewhere to keep the price down. At least we can always go aftermarket.

That actually looks better than I would have predicted.

Cool pics, BTW!

I assume you cut the H out to do an X conversion?

Art and Walt were crude geniuses who were willing to try anything. Lots of their stuff started as junk and most ended up that way too.
