They probably have insurance for this (could be considered under their crime policy)...might not meet the deductible though.

Take it back and demand your money back. If they will not refund get a lawyer. I know someone that bought a Cadillac CTS V that had a 5.3 truck motor. It might run good and be a good motor but if it's not a ls7 it's only worth about half. As is doesn't cover false advertising.

Good luck

I imagine they try to track down who they got the car from...or take the loss, and roll it through an auction with full disclosure.

If the dealer was even telling the truth. They could have just tried to pass the blame on carmax.

OP 'noticed' DS tank et al missing. >doink!< Clue #1
Glad as hell it worked out, reputable dealer did the right thing.

Still, wonder how long charade c/would've gone on had it been a DS LS3?
Reminiscent of some early rental Shelby GT350 having HO engines boosted w/ a smaller version 289 swapped in place.

Best. Possible. Outcome.

As someone who is potentially in the market for a C6Z06, this thread was very helpful in the sense of learning more about the big picture of going into a deal with eyes wide freaking open.

Cheers!
