LS7 Dropped valve.
Finally dug into the motor to see if the block was going to be salvageable. Doesn’t look like it without doing MID sleeves.
Is the head a lost cause or can it be welded and cnc’d?
This was cylinder #2 exhaust valve. The valve guide wear was probably 3/16”. I’ll upload a video.
Here’s a video. It took me a long time to fight through the amazon redirect stuff, what’s up with that?

That sucks...I know you posted about this late last year. How many miles on the car? Still stock?
Most importantly...is the block salvageable? Hard to tell form the picture, but clearly #2 sleeve is trashed. Hope you can resleeve...
As for the head, I'd try to find a bare casting rather than repair this (if it can be).
EDIT...never mind. Looked on a larger screen, and your block is a coffee table at this point.

Sucks man just had my #7 break and cracked my sleeve and block. Since heads are stock I’m assuming junk the one side buy a used one for 500$ then get those heads to khole get them fixed. And keep ur stock crank and rods and actually add aftermarket pistons my stock ones broke they’re fragile prob not with a good tune but your here anyways. Sell your block broken.
supply your crank and rods to tsp I think they can get it done with darton dry sleeves for less than 4-4.5k instead of spending 3100 on a new ls7 block and ls7 pistons and ur crank and rods would put you near the same price. Get the darton block stock crank and rods with aftermarket pistons. You got a crazy 800whp capable short block (rods and piston will determine the hp capability block should be good for 1500whp) can be bored to 4.185 have all this added insurance.

Tow it over to Jerri's house. I heard he is a master vette mechanic and can get that fixed up really quick and easy for a fraction of 1%.

Valve dropped at 48,023 miles.
I bought the car with 45,000 miles on 9/16.
Paperwork and receipts I have say it has a comp cam, valve springs and rocker bearing upgrade done at 40,000 miles. Work was done at West bend dyno tuning in west bend Wisconsin.
If the exhaust valve guide was that bad then idk how they hadn’t seen it.
Yeah, really shitty seeing as the shop I took it to showed me the GM bulletin saying the valve guide issue was an internet rumor and not to worry about it. And then forum trolls like Jerri.
And the best part is the last drive was the day before thanksgiving it started snowing and I planned to redo the heads in the winter.

If this non existent problem was burning down garages and homes GM would jump on it. I referring to the valve cover problem on the old V6's that were made pre bankruptcy, and they jumped right on it. Any other time they would be right up the suppliers butt to fix the problem, but since this exhaust valve issue doesn't shut down production, roll on.
These LS7's are time bombs, sad to say. It really is a wonder the value of them isn't in the toilet.

Because it is a simple weekend fix that doesn't cost a lot.
Same reason value doesn't go into the toilet if they have worn out tires.

LS7 dropped valve.......
I have an LS7 in a C5. I DON'T know what I would do in this situation. However, I DO know what I would NOT do: I would NEVER replace the damaged head by reinstalling the problem with another LS7 head. This situation has never been fully resolved. Umpteen forums/head rebuilders, umpteen opinions, and still stockers/built motors are dropping valves. G.M. quit offering this engine as a standard or RPO for a reason. Too bad, because the shortblock is a damn good engine. Its the heads that have doomed it. I had 427 Darton block, and it had AFR 225 heads on it. After 30,000 miles, the guides (bronze) were badly worn. But it never dropped a valve (ALL valves were Ferrea). If a block can be salvaged, I would go with an aftermarket head, or ported LS3 heads. But I DAMN sure would be done with factory LS7 heads!! IMHO, NOBODY has, to my knowledge, stated they have solved the problem for sure, and offered proof of same.

I had a very busy spring and I totally missed this the first time. I hate to see this- again. Best wishes to the OP.
For those who are familiar with target shooting, the following comments are what we call "10X", which is a perfect bullseye.
