Default ZR1 Hood Window Replacement

I had a pickup truck run over a 3x4 or larger piece of plywood in front of me on I-10 yesterday afternoon. The piece of plywood went airborne and vertical broadside when the front fascia hit it and then across the hood and then into the windshield and over the roof. Windshield and roof suffered no damage. Some material appears to have transferred to the front fascia which should buff out. The hood window suffered badly with several severe gouges in the plastic. The hood paint has some scratches between the window and the windshield which will mostly buff out. All and all, I was fearing far more damage before I had a chance to stop and examine everything. This could have ended far worse. First time in 50 years to have plywood hit a car.

So question for those owners who have replaced the OEM window with an aftermarket clear or GM clear window, which vendors appear to have high quality replacements???

Agreed. Plenty of online discounted GM parts suppliers...you can even reach out to Gene Culley on here with Cultrag for discounted GM parts.

Not Happy!! Just found out from Suburban Auto Group that the ZR1 clear hood windows are on National Back Order. Hoping Suburban can find one in inventory somewhere. Otherwise, may be a long wait to get this hood damage repaired.

ACS composite sells polycarbonate windows...maybe give them a call. They also sell a paintable vented insert that replaces the window.

I may have to go aftermarket such as ACS if I have to wait too long.

I think theirs is like $500...and supposedly OE quality scratch resistant polycarbonate. If its me, I'd grab one if they have it in stock and maybe grab an OE when they come available just to throw on the shelf in case you need one at a later date.

National back order is a crap shoot. I waited 5 months for an OE ZR1 upper radiator hose (proprietary to the ZR1) due to a national back order. I later found out that Ecklers sells an OE quality reproduction hose.

We are definitely doing our absolute best to get one to you ASAP, and we will let you know the progress along the way. We will understand if you need to take another route for your repairs.

From the looks of it, it should not be very long at all, but I will not know for another day or two. I will let you know soon if I have an ETA.

I am going to remove the hood this weekend to remove the damaged window, touch up the paint scratches behind it and reinstall the new replacement window you shipped to me. I ordered the GM window seal (GM #19208466) from you which appears to be a single length of double sided sticky rectangular rope gasketing. However, my 2011 GM shop manual talks about using a urethane caulk adhesive when reinstalling the hood window so I am a bit confused now. No directions were provided with the window seal for how to position and install the window with this GM #19208466 rope seal. Perhaps the seal gasket positioning will be obvious to me after I remove the old window??
