Default Old Combo vs New Combo // Modded MSD Intake vs Holley Hi-Ram

Background: After a long time without the car finally got it back running again. Got it on the dyno yesterday and got some pics of the dyno sheets texted to me.

Dyno runs were done at Performance HQ (Lethal Performance) in San Antonio. I have tons of dyno time there. So, you will see old combo vs new combo on same dyno.

The new combo runs are on 93 Octane, old combo on E85.

Stock short block, HCI.
Main difference on old vs. new:

Cams of my own specs: 19 overlap (old) vs 27 overlap (new)
Heads: TSP ported (old) vs Same port plus Bowls hand blended by me
MSD Intake: Ported MSD (old) vs Modified with shorter runners by me
Headers: Hinson 1 7/8 (old) vs ARH 2"
Fuel: E85 (old) vs 93 Oct (New)

Once I get the actual files Ill be able to post better graphs. The pulls were to 7200RPMs. 630RWHP 550RWTQ

The gains down low are about 40HP/TQ at 3000 - 4000.

Old combo: "Green"
New combo: "Purple"
On the short runner vs Holley Hi-Ram.

Hi-Ram car specs are:

Stock short block
Cam: 254/264 111+4 (37 deg overlap)
Heads: LME ported
Johnson short travel lifters
Headers: Stainless Headers 2"
Holley Hi-Ram Intake
CR: Unkn
Fuel: E85

To note: That cam is LOTS bigger than my cam well over +10 intake duration.

Hi-Ram: "Pink Line"
Short Runner MSD: "Purple"
Ported MSD: "Green"

On the Hi-Ram run, the peak number is exaggerated by the "blip" at the end of the run. I dont know why the hi-ram TQ is not diplayed.

Its open for interpretation/discussions.

I wonder how much was gained on the modified MSD alone. Why the switch from E85 to 93?

I did the MSD, some ligtjt work on bellmouths. It was good for 10rw at difrent points within the RPM, and very little at peak.

The short runner MSD appears to at least match the Hi Ram in average HP. In an acceleration contest it would likely be a tie. Thank you for the very interesting and scientific approach.

Great results. I'm assuming the hi ram car is Adam Franklin's old car? Even more-so I want to see what my car is going to do.

Would love to get some friendly runs with you. That would be a nice comparison to see.

I suspect the low end gains are from the header swap. I saw the same results switching from TSP headers to American Racing headers of the same size.

Yes, that was his car.

I would love to do some runs. Unfortunately, I drove the car from San Antonio, TX to Evans, GA (1200 miles) . Drove like a champ a did so while averaging 23 MPH!!

During my drive I had easily 50 cars either reving or doing some type of instigation lol. Gapped the followimg: a Cammed Camaro a Coyote Mustang w/unknown mods and a WRX while going thru Huston, a beautiful Blue/Black C7Z with paper tags and EVO with the loudest BOV in the history of mand kind while driving thru Atlanta.

Fun drive!

That's awesome. Let me know if you're ever back in the area.
