Held hostage by c6z, hmmm.
So I parked the new to me c6z at the bottom of the driveway, neutral, park brake on, engine running at idle, and pushed the door open button & nothing happened. Thought oh crap, 1st issue, door control module, $$$$.
I had noticed a manual override door lever when I got the car and figured I'd give that a try. Bingo door opens.
So no, haven't had time to read the whole owner's manual & it's probably in there.
Some GM genius decide that scenario? Or forced on them by the Feds?

That 'feature' always pisses me off... Haven't figured a way to turn the automatic locking off.
Cars should only do as they're told, and not try to think. They aren't very good at it.

When my motor blew on my 2008 at the track at about 125mph I went into a slow spin and off the track into the dirt. Car was filled with dirt and smoke. No power so the door wouldn't open. I was a little freaked out and with the smoke couldn't even remember that the door latch lever was there. Fortunately the windows were down (obviously at the track) because thats how I got out of the car

A 72-year-old Texas man and his dog were found unresponsive in a 2007 Corvette parked at a Port Arthur restaurant on Monday afternoon. Apparently, when the car’s battery cable came loose, the man was unable to manually unlock the doors.
After a person who found the man was unable to get the door open, the fire department was called, but they were unable to immediately get the door open either, according to a KAGS news report. When authorities finally managed to get the Corvette door open, the man, identified as James Rogers, and his dog were found dead inside. Officials say the cause of death was likely due to the heat.
As many probably know here at Corvette Forum, Corvettes also have a handle next to each seat to force the electric doors open in an emergency such as a dead battery. But sadly, it appears there might be a lot more people out there who aren’t aware of the safety lever in Corvettes.
This video shows you how to enter and exit your Corvette in the event of a battery failure or disconnection.

I hate that auto-lock feature as well so I got the Window Valet. Not cheap, but sometimes you find a good deal on a used one. Not only can you roll your windows up/down form your fob, but there is an option to unlock the doors when you set the parking brake. It's very handy for when you want to exit the car, but not shut it off.
