I was one of the first in Dallas to get a 2001 z06 and then again a 2006. I sold the 2006 after 1 year and went back to a C5. For me, it wasn't about top speed or quickness. I liked the lighter feel (and real lbs) of the C5 along with the c5 z06 trans gearing that the c6 did not have. I hated the 62mph 1st gear red line in the c6. My current 01 Lingenfelter 500hp H&C Speedway white weighs less than 3100lbs with 1/2 tank of gas. The c6 was in the 3300 lb range. Along with shorter wheel base, I just think the c5 Z more tossable and fun to drive.

i do miss my Nassau blue 73.... C3's were just sooooo gorgeous.... the lines..... only car i ever made money on. Its L48 only made 190 hp on paper, anemic, but ended up 350, 350hp....., 4 spd car w AC, it needed it. (leg burner.)
Get lots of comments on the 07 AO z06 ... fastest/quickest car ive ever owned.

I have owned both and I have to say I prefer my C6Z over my C5Z...

For autocross the the C5Z has the edge. From my user name you can tell I used to have a C5Z, I now have a C6Z :-) I feel that for budget racing the C5Z wins as so many parts are the same as the base C5 so replacement parts are cheap.
