Default Shaving Water Pump for NW102?

I have heard 2 things. You have to shave material off of the WP and you do not have to shave the WP for the NW102. I have a ported MSD and I have to shave mine. What about you all?

I have an MSD intake and NW 102 tb and did not have to shave anything, just retighten the MSD bolts constantly.

Have you checked for clearance? I had to tighten mine up a few times, talked to Tony and he suggested checking the clearance and said to torque them to 100 inch lbs instead of 80 or whatever the book said. I used my borescope and could see that the water pump and NW102 were touching, shaved the WP and put locktite on the bolts, went through the torque sequence about 10 times and haven't touched them since. Haven't had a single issue since.

Sweet, I still have to check my MSD bolts.

Awesome, another for shaving the WP. I personally went over 80 inch lbs on my MSD. I did not know there was a procedure as I purchased mine used. I am just hoping that I did not mess anything up tightening the MSD down.

Mamo said do 100 inch lbs or so and go around the pattern at least 10 times, keep in mind if you used locktite once you move that bolt again you've broke the locktite loose...

Clearances vary, but if you milled the heads, it will lower the intake manifold slightly, which will almost always require clearancing the WP.

Yeah I just took a look now and it is not rubbing, I am using stock unmilled heads at the moment but I also ran this setup with AHP package #4 heads milled .030" and didn't have to clearance anything then either but I can definitely see that leading to needing to shave the WP slightly. The NW 102 tb was purchased new last year if build date is useful in determining clearance.

It may be build date as I purchased mine used and have no idea how old it is.

Well I do not know then since you are .050 mill. Stock casting correct? Maybe it is my PRC’s plus .030 mill.

Owell, I will deal with this once the car is done and after driving her a while to get everything sorted out.

Having a meziere ewp even with stock heads will require clearancing in this case. Had to pull out my dremel for a couple spots

For now I am leaving it off as I have dyno time scheduled for Tuesday night. I will keep updating my thread on it. This car pulls hard as crap. I unfortunately I can not tell what kind of power she makes though. Strongest car I have ever owned or ridden in, that is sure.

Ah ok, I got you. I figured I would have to start Dremeling to get rid of the casting line. I may hold off and plan mods round 2 and do a Meziere pump as well lol.
