Took the dry sump tank out of the car. There was definitely a fair amount of gray sludge at the bottom of the tank. By the looks of the tank it seems like this would be a good time to add a drain plug at the bottom of the tank. Has anyone ever done that? I’m surprised the factory didn’t add one here. Seems like it would be a good idea to have a drain plug in this location. If you look very close the hole at the bottom is threaded. Anyone know why?

I agree due to the fact that the oil lines aren't all the way at the bottom. My tank also had a gray sludge in the bottom.

Well I went ahead and had the bottom of the tank drilled out and welded in a drain plug. I will now be able to drain 6-7 ounces out of the bottom of the tank after all the oil is drained from the oil pan.
