Stupid Hand Sanitizer !!
So I dripped a little hand sanitizer on my console and didn't notice it. Then days later after baking in the heat I did notice a funny looking spot. When I rubbed it the painted finish came off. So it seems like my choices are to remove and have the console repainted or upgrade to the newer stock console (mine is an '06). Or I could glue the Jake emblem as seen in bottom picture. Any other suggestions and what would you do? Keeping car stock, even original wheels.

I really like the CF finish piece I put in my 2007.
The emblem is nice, but I wouldn't like having something there my hand would feel. Just a personal issue....I end up pulling at the edges and such of things like that.

Thanks for the input guys.
I can't leave it as I notice it every time I get in the car. Its an otherwise unblemished interior.
The placement of the Jake would actually not cause any issue as my hand is either on the shifter or the wheel.

I vote for the carbon fiber upgrade...and then a matching D bottom carbon steering wheel.

On my prior 99 C5, the center console didn’t look to good when I got it. I took it off, painted it with the same color as the exterior, (pewter) from the auto parts store and put a couple coats of satin clear on it, and looked great. Just another idea! I do like the Jake in your case.

Next time use soap and water, better than those hand sanitizers!

Lessen learned?
Coffee/ drinking/ eating/ sex in the car can cause appearance issues too.
A small Jake sticker could be cost effective and attractive.
Good luck in your repair.

I'm also a fan of bone stock, and I would want to restore the finish on that surface with either the correct color applied as a really careful touchup, or get your favorite body shop to do a fresh paint on the whole consol. If you start accepting the occasional blem it could become the beginning of the end where bone stock is concerned...don't settle...

You bought a black car and that little blemish bothers you? You are in for some punishment my friend.

Another option is hydrographics.
I've done several things in the interiors of my previous vehicles.

A lot of good opinions, so I might as well chime in. If you are truly a stock guy, then you have to repair or replace with the original color, No Jake emblem, I like the carbon fiber and new D steering wheel suggestion...decisions, decisions.
