Hinson engine mounts melting
Purchased the shorter engine mounts from Hinson to clear the MSD intake manifold (worked perfect...0 grinding and no need to swap to button bolts).
After a couple thousand miles they seem to have gotten a bit more compliant which is a nice thing.
However upon last inspection I noticed both were showing signs of melting from header heat. I have ARH headers that are ceramic coated but apparently that is too hot.
I do not run the heat wrap they now offer and to be honest - they should come with them standard after seeing these melt as they have. I'll be wrapping then going forward I just want to let others know if you are looking to buy these - purchase the heat wrap with them.

Just put the heat shields on. Either the factory ones like you should have installed, or the ones they sell. Or both.

If you look at the picture you would see that factory shields will not help in this situation. And then if you read what I wrote I stated that they should come standard with their now-offered heat shield wraps. And further - I said I would be running the wraps. Just wanted to give people a heads up in case they were on the fence about ordering the wraps.

Yes they do, they help a ton. Install them like intended, it is not an issue.

The factory ones that came with my car were very little hats, the heat from the headers are radiating from the side. I would have installed them but when fitted it looked like they would not control any heat from the ARH tubes.

If I could go back I woudl do the AMTs, but I've ran the Hinsons for 6+ years, without issue. First pull showed some mild bubbling like his above, because I left the factory heat shield off, put it on, and now no different in 6+ years. 1200+hp, plenty hot, Arizona, etc. The factory shields do a great job.
That being said, the AMT stuff is very nice. Need to talk to him about control arms.

There is a vulcanized rubber hockey puck in between the aluminum cups. Makes them more compliant. But I can definitely tell at idle that they are there. Not too bad though. But at speed or on the track I can't tell, don't feel them and don't care about NVH anyhow. I'm very happy with them, mostly because they work and do their job. . But then again my whole car is on solid mounts. He makes a shorter version too.
Here were mine before I installed them so you get a better look.

Have hinsons on my car for 4 or 5 years now. Installed them with the factory heat shields and have no issues with burning. They looked like new last time I checked.

I believe the shields help. My mounts are about 6 years old used with non coated headers on my track car. My motor is starting to sit lower, but the mounts look ok. I'm content with the life of them, but I will try the AMT mounts next.
