which cam with reworked stock heads
Whats up vette fam,
I've looked quite a bit into this and finally decided to put up a thread and ask all of you what you think and any recommendations for reworking my stock z06 heads
I've got a 2009 c6 z06, I've planned to take apart my heads and have them reworked and while i'm at that i've decided to go with an aftermarket camshaft... this is where i'm sorta stuck choosing between a BTR stage 3 or 4... anyone have any experience with either of the two cams, which one is better in its own ways?
and if you have any recommendations on which shop to have the stock heads reworked on please pm me, Im from the Vancouver BC area
Thanks

Whats your primary use for the car? BTR4 is a top-end cam, so if you plan on always being up in the 5000+ rpm range, have at it. If the car is mainly street driven, with an occasional trip to the track/strip, a BTR3 would be the much better choice.
As for reworking the heads, look no further than AHP...they ship all over the world. They offer a few different cams as well...they have their 116 and a 112, in addition to the BTR cams.

Cam motion has a good product I’d put them on your short list for sure. Bob is a good dude he’ll set you up nicely.

Don't 'over-cam', you'll regret it - maybe even consider the BTR 2 - ask yourself how you are really going to use the car 90% of the time. If you lose the driveability and take the fun out of the car, well then it's no fun at all to own it / drive it. So do not worry about idle or how it sounds at the hangouts - keep it streetable and fun.

Recently sold my C6Z that I put over 24k miles on in 14 months. I had a BTR2 cam in it and it was absolutely amazing. Easy on the highway, did a ton of long road trips. Easy around town, would idle itself in first gear. Sounded great.

I've changed my cam 3 times. Already want to change it again. Most likely, you won't like your first choice; you'll either grow tired of it because you went too big, or crave more power because you went too small.

I had never had a street car with aftermarket cam. I had a goal to do 200 MPH at Mojave ( standing start 1.5 mile trap) and understood that a strong cam (I did a Katech K501) would impact street use. My car is no longer a parking lot car. It has some surge but it is fun around town and I am happy to do all day highway cruising.

Thanks ! I've looked into many options for other heads been a lost cause on which one to settle for.. I will look into these as well, but i feel you i do drive my car as often as i can get it onto the street, it has been my daily in the past.. so yes id like to keep my daily drivability and also build good power along with a nice tail end sound.

I have a deployment coming up so the car was about to sit for almost 18 months straight. I absolutely loved it and am going to try and find a white 2013 Z06 to do a very similar build on next. I never had a single problem or complaint about my 07 but want my personal 'pinnacle' of the C6Z.
