Exhaust Recommendations?

I have the Akra's and love them. I think you should start by looking at the brands that still keep the NPP operational, it's nice to have the option to go quiet. I love loud, but there are times that I must close the valves to think straight, 5% of the time and with passengers. I hear some say Akra's drone like hell, others say they don't. I have headers with no cats and mine only drone on highway in 6th gear and low RPM's, so I usually keep it in 5th on highway at cruising speed or turn on the NPP. B&B offers a system with NPP. Corsa's sound great, no drone, but loud all the time and no NPP. Akra's have more of a smooth exotic sound. The Corsa's have more of a muscle car sound, personally I thought it sounded more like a inboard motor boat out of the water, this is not to insult anyone, it's a nice aggressive and I love to hear it, it's just too much for me. You can listen to exhaust notes all day on youtube, but they all start sounding the same and can be misleading depending on the equipment they used to record the exhaust note. They always sound louder in garages or an alley and think you are better off meeting someone local with your like modifications and go from there. Good luck!

My biased opinion votes Borla Atak (not sure if you were trying to avoid Borla based on your post). I had the muffler mod and it was amazing prior to the rattling. Had it never rattled, I'd have kept it and been very happy. After the rattling started, I decided I wanted to eliminate the chance of that happening again, so began a long search. I heard several cars in person with various setups, and after input from some forum members, settled on the Borla. Very, very happy with it. Zero drone (I've read earlier models did), nice deep sound, and the pops and crackles on decel are intoxicating. It's a bit loud on a cold start, but settles down pretty quickly. It also sheds 15 lbs and the bigger tips fill up the back nicely. All that said, can't really go wrong with the available exhausts for these cars. They all sound good, just have varying tones and volume.

I've had both the B&B Fusion and the LG GT4 exhaust. The Fusion honestly sounds better and louder than the GT4 when it's open, and it can be closed to avoid drone (which the GT4 has plenty of). On the other hand, the GT4 is the second lightest exhaust available next to the Akrapovic.
If you have money though, get the Akra, no questions asked.

Melting Slicks
I have factory NPP with replacement 4" tips and a mild to wild switch. I'd like to eventually do B&B Fusion because I like that they tuck up towards the top of the diffuser a little more, along with the true 3" path.

I'm also thinking of exhaust(I need to get the heads done for peace of mind). I've heard that headers sit too close to something(wiring harness maybe?) and can melt it, even wrapped headers. Also, is an X-pipe worth it for the sound or is there much difference?

You're going to get a lot of different answers here because everyone's idea of the perfect exhaust will be slightly different. We would recommend heading out to the next big Vette meet and listening to all the different exhausts you can in person and go with the one YOU like best. You can't go wrong with any of the well-known quality brands. If you were looking for something deep with a bit more sound, but still comfortable to drive daily, we would steer you in the direction of our Street catback #16495. If we can answer any questions about our products or exhaust in general, please do not hesitate to contact us!
