Love the zr1 hood - minus the window. Makes it look so much more agresssive with the larger cowl.

You sure can see the difference when they’re side by side. The bulge on the Z06 is nearly non existent. The window is growing on me, but I know what you mean!

As close as the two cars seem, for someone who can appreciate fine differences, the two cars deliver a very different driving feel. The Z has a lighter, slightly more nimble "Raw" feel vs the more grand tourer aspect of the ZR1. Stock it is a little too much for the Z but it doesn't take much to change that. I know, you could tweak the ZR1 as well and it would reward you with even more power but you will lose that perfect touring feel of a stock ZR1, at least to my feel. After owning both for 6 months I stumbled on an extremely well built track 09 Z with a mostly Katech motor at 570 rwp, methanol injection, ZR1 brakes and cooling, aluminum flywheel, coil overs, weight down to 3,000 lbs, etc. It isn't as comfortable as the ZR1 but the driving experience is out of this world. As great as each of the mostly stock two are, driving a purpose built machine with the right equipment shows you just how different three very close looking Corvettes can really be.
Best of luck with the new purchase.

Well, now I know what the difference is between my Z06 and the ZR1!! I went out Saturday and put 200 miles on the ZR1 and boy oh boy, the ZR1 seems so much more refined and those brakes!! Finally!! If I could sum it up in just a few words, the Z06 was like the incredible hulk with tattered clothing and the ZR1 is like the incredible hulk with a tuxedo on. No regrets, the ZR1 is badass!!

Have you had much time to get it out on the road? I just bought a 2010 3ZR yesterday. I sold my heavily modded C6Z almost four years ago, and I had that one for almost six years. First highway pull when I test drove the ZR yesterday was exhilerating. Feels a lot different from what I remember in the Z06.

i can’t pick up mine until tomorrow or Thursday. Previous owner put Kooks long tubes on it, but not the cats, so I’m having them put the cats on it and adjust the tune. It’s tuned for E85, and wow! 667rwhp beats the 630 my Z06 was putting down. It will no doubt drop in power a bit with the cats, but it’s still plenty fast.

I can’t wait to get more seat time!

Saturday was my first real ride of the season. The car is simply awesome! Way smoother and has more manners than my Z06. It’s still stock for now, but I have a stack of boxes from Lingenfelter and Kong sitting in the garage waiting for my appointment on 4/27 with my LS guru. We’re shooting for 675-700whp.

Be safe and have a blast!!

I have to come love the hood window too! So much so, that I’m having John Caravaggio build me a custom carbon fiber engine cover with a Lingenfelter decal in front of the intercooler lid.
