Faster steering Z06
Hi all! Has anyone tried something like this for faster steering in their corvettes? https://slrspeed.com/products/corvet...teer-angle-kit
I have a 2007 z06 that i use on street and trackdays and i feel that the steering ratio is a little too slow. This kit is mostly for drifting i suppose and I'm not after the extreme steering angle but it should speed up the steering a lot. Im just curious if anyone has tried something like this for a street/track car?

Sup fellow track enthusiast, lol.
I had the same issue on the track - the stock steering ratio is waaaaay too slow, and I've heard multiple C6 owners who race complain about it as well.
That's actually a big part of why I chose the 2009 year, so that I would get the variable ratio steering rack, which goes from 17:1 to 13:1 at full lock.
Unfortunately you cannot swap a 2009+ steering rack into a previous year Z, as the electronics are incompatible (something about the magnasteer).
However, you can get a smaller circumference steering wheel which, at the expense of more steering effort (which I wanted anyway) will increase your steering speed.

Oh one more thing about the quick steer angle kit you posted, will the power steering pump be able to keep up with quick turns? It's only rated for a certain amount of flow

I had a 2008 with the increased ratio. When I first got my 2006 I noticed the difference. Now I never think about it. And I AutoX 1-2 a month and have no problem negotiating the course.

Its about having a tighter feel in the steering that i'm after. and not have to turn the wheel like in a bus going into a corner or when countersteering. the car just don't feel nimble with this steering ratio.

SivaSuryaKshatri . Yeah Exactly. I've to heard that you can't change the steering rack from a newer car because of the electronics. I will change for a smaller steeringwheel to start with. and if i'm not happy i will maybe try this and see how it turns out. I think the pump vill keep up. the steering rack will not move any faster, only the wheels due to the smaller gearing in the wheel hub. It will of course need more force to turn the wheels but i think that should be fine.

Nice, let me know what circumference you ended up going with and how much it helped!

OP I know the steering feel your talking about..... probably gonna have to buy a Porsche... j/k. I also have a 07z that I track quite a bit and if you haven’t yet you will need to replace the power steering pump with a Turn-one.

I have no issue with the steering response or quickness of steering in my C6Z. I autox and track a lot. I would suggest to first look at your front toe spec. A little toe out will give you quicker turn in (steering). Only reason I would change the steering wheel would be to remove the air bag for decreased weight. Try your alignment settings before jumping into different steering ratios where you will possibly need to upgrade your pump as well.

I’ve got this kit sitting in my tool box now.
I got this kit in my toolbox now bought it for the quick steer, but I’m a show off and was a stunt driver in my 20s will definitely enjoy the angle
