Default Appointment made for a retune

Gonna get my Z to a different local shop for a retune in a couple months, as some of you know since doing my HCI swap and having it tuned it runs decent but has major surging when cruising on the highway. I am not happy with that and have had my tune file checked by several people here who told me that the tune is ok but not great so after getting different opinions from different shops I picked one and will be heading there for a retune.

I'm looking to clean up the driveability (hopefully make it better in that regard) and if I can pick up a few extra ponies and torque with a new tune I'm all in, also would like the cold start hesitation when pulling away from the garage sorted out also.

If this works out I'll be happy driving my Z again, right now for regular driving I prefer my GT500 since engine is still basically stock and has nice manners and can still get snorty when I send it. Want the nice manners back on the Z when I don't full send.

Tony

Interested in who you are trying out to clean up the tune? Are they in the gta? I'm thinking about getting a second opinion on my tune for the reasons you listed.
Maybe you could PM me.

Regards,

Luke

Awwwww yeaaaaaaaaa gta party when it gets warmer. This weekend is **** but looks like this is the last of it.

I'd also highly suggest a halltech intake to fix surge. You guys may not even need a retune.

If you bring over enough beers you can borrow mine lol

I have a Halltech 108. Which replaced my original halltech intake from back in 07-08...
Bought the setup all new last year.
Mamo heads
Mamo msd
Mamo rps bc2
Ported ls9 oil pump
Mamo ati crank damper
Nick williams 102
Ls9 injectors
Mamo spec'd comp cam
243/257 114 +4

The list goes on. I think having come this far, it would be good to have a second opinion. Maybe it is optimized to be the best balance for what it is, I just don't have anything to compare it to.

I need a retune or if I want to do more work a cam swap to a slightly milder camshaft again with a retune but wanting to keep the power/torque I have or gain more.

I'm running a K&N intake, yes probably not as good as a Halltech but I've ran it since the car was new and totally stock and I only got it for CAN$300.00 brand new back in the day through the connections I had for go fast parts. I've never had a problem running this intake and it along with DR's on a totally otherwise stock car gets me 11.30 1/4 mile times @ 127mph. Since my upgrades on the same tires getting a bog off the line and hitting the rev limiter in 3rd I've done 10.97 @ 134mph so I think everything works just fine other than the driveability thing. There should be a 10.70 there if I get the launch and run down perfect.

Swapping over to a Halltech would be for driveability not more power. Having the maf further away from the throtle body during regular city driving helps keep it from seeing revision pulses from the cam overlap and cleans up a lot of surge.
