Michelin's or Pirelli's.

Truth is I would need more information to give you the correct answer. Do you need to drive to the track on them? Do you have a budget? Do you have a size limitation?

If you are talking about the "best" being the stickiest tire you can use to set down the fastest qualifying lap possible I would use a Michelin soft compound slick.

I trailer my car to the track. Last year I was using Hoosiers A7's slicks for Road TRack HPDE events. I have CCW rims (18 X 11 Corsairs for my front wheels and 18 X 13 for my rears) The tire sizes were P315/302R18 in the front and P345/352R in the rear. I had three sets of these tires where one tire from each set showed cords during the first day of an event; 2 were fronts and one was a rear tire. I have lost all confidence in Hoosiers as they would give me any relief. My cambers did not change during these sessions.

The car has be beefed up in brakes, suspension, engine, exhaust and cooling of the engine. I also have a wing on the rear.

I have logged 17,000 road track miles since 2003, 8,800 at Road America. Several years ago I used Michelins 30/65-18 on the front and 325/705 on the rears.
What size Michelins and Pirelli's would you recommend? I am not restricted by a budget but I also look for deals. If you know of a good supplier of these tires I would also appreciate any references you have.

Oh, I posted that right before your last post.

I seem to have good luck with R7's. Do you flip your tires etc? They do wear out but im not sure they wear any worse than the competition.

BTW I use 18x13 rear and 18x11 front too.

The sizes you state are Michelin front and Pirelli rear. Michelin would be 31/71 rears.

Call GT Racing Tires for their scrubs. Pirelli 305/645/18 fronts, and yes from what I am told 325/680/18 rears which is a new size available. They will be the hard compound and should have the pace the A's do, be way cheaper and last longer. If you don't like the Pirelli scrubs the Hoosier R7's in the same size as the A's. They will definitely outlast the A's.

Michelin 31/71's I fear are too tall in the rear for our cars. I run them on my Viper ACR-E and they work great. The tire height helps with more speed in gear as a bonus. They beat up the inner liner on the C6Z. The impacts are pretty hard as can be heard in the car. The did run them on the C6 factory racing cars and still do on the C7 but obviously they have done something to gain clearance. That's why I recommend that 325/680 Pirelli. Same height as the 345/35/18 Hoosier.
