Default “No part of this guide is measurable”: Fixed with Katech Stage 2

My 13Z with only 17,000 miles on the engine, stock, never tracked! Exhaust guides were good, but the intake valves were not so good at all.

I dropped the car off at Katech a few weeks ago for their Stage 2 package (116 cam), and drove it home yesterday. I did have them install a Halltech MF103 air intake in addition to their standard stage 2 package. I am running the stock exhaust, no headers. The trip home was about 450 miles and I got 27 MPG (mostly interstate hwy). The car drives like stock with this cam until you give it some throttle. No surging, no gasoline smell. There is a noticeable cam lope during idle, which I like.

Nice! I pick up my Stage 2 tomorrow. I have basically the same package as you with the only difference being I have Kooks LT's & X-pipe. I actually made LESS HP than you though! Mine made 517/467.

I noticed that, as I've been watching the thread you posted. Seems odd to me.

Yeah I asked Jason about that and he stated that my numbers were about average for a Torquer 116 build. I didn't have a baseline dyno done because I didn't want to risk it with my car having over 50+K on the stock valve-train so there's no way to measure the overall gains. Good thing too because most all of my exhaust valves were out of spec. My car may have been a bit low on the HP/TQ from the factory, who knows.

Money well spent. I went with nearly the same setup years ago (milled .030), and 20,000 miles later with track days there was no measurable guide wear when they tore it down and measured this April. Enjoy!

Were you in the Katech YouTube video about this? I assume you got their Ti/Mo intake valves, what exhaust valves did you use?

Congrats John! That was fast...and by the looks of it, very necessary. I'm sure it feels like a brand new car now!

There is a new video they just posted on YouTube but that car isn't mine. Same package as mine, same color too, but it has headers and my car does not. Yes, I got their Ti/Mo intake valves. My exhaust valve guides were in spec with only 17K miles, so they used my existing exhaust valves.

Thanks Mike. They had it done in 3 weeks which is faster than I expected. Between the cold temperatures and my worn tires I didn't get to play with it much. Wheel spin in first, second, third...Yes, it does feel like a different car. New tires will be mounted this spring.

Still very pleased with my recent stage 2 from Katech. I live in PA, unfortunately getting ready to put her to bed for a few months, dang.
