I am in a process to buy a Z06 or ZRI, I like to know if a certified dealer can check the control box to verify the odometer is showing the true KM, and not been rolled back?
Thanks :-)
Thanks :-)

Not really. Odometer is built into the dash. Only way to check would be through something like carfax which would only flag if the odometer was recorded higher at one point.

If you have doubts that a odometer has been rolled back or not, I would just move on to another car, there are plenty of garage queens out there

odometer miles are stored in the dash cluster itself. If replaced you program the mileage in the new cluster. But all said...it is not easy to alter odometer without replacing it

Here's the bad news - you can buy a brand new cluster from u.s. speedo, they need your vin, and you tell them the kms or miles and they program it in, then ship it to you. Yes, you can tell them any number you like. When I had my Z06, I did this for reason of going to the canadian cluster but I keep the kms honest - I'm sure some don't.

I remember when I had my Porsche 928 back in the day there was some kind of timer or odometer in the transmission. I heard it from a Porsche mechanic.
