Z06 as a Daily
Hello All!
I am considering trading in my 2017 BMW M240 for a C6 Z06. I was looking at buying one from Carmax so that I could buy the extended warranty (based on the forums, I am scared of dropping a valve). I had a couple questions for folks.
1. How do you like these cars a a daily driver? I am a 32 year old male that doesn’t mind a rough ride.
2. Is there anywhere else to buy a C6 under warranty like Carmax or is the only other options doing the heads from one of the shops listed in the form to prevent/not worry about dropping a valve?
sorry for my ignorance.

Everyone's different but I couldn't imagine a C6 Z06 as a daily driver if you spend a lot of time in the car. Once the cool factor wears off you'll be wishing for a more comfortable and practical car that didn't cost a ton of money to replace tires on.

I daily'd my old c6z for 4 years, there is nothing wrong with it. Traded it for cadi ats-v, hated driving that car in general, it lasted a year. Now back in a m7 c7 Cars are meant to be driven

As someone who owns both a Z06 and an M235i - I would rather daily my BMW over my Vette. The BMW is more comfy and better equipped, and I don't worry about ground clearance and visibility.

I have an 08 Z06 that I used as my daily driver for 2.5 yrs (I just retired). I had a "reverse commute" and enjoyed driving it every day. However I was careful where I parked the car at work to avoid door dings and other parking lot damage. Car has 35k miles and I just ordered a set of heads for it.

OP, It depends on what part of the country you live, if you are in the northeast or upper upper mid west, forget it during the winter. You can buy a GMEPP warranty that will cover your car or you can get a 3rd party warranty through many providers. I own a LS7 and yes there COULD be a issue with the heads, its NOT every car but most folks go ahead and get them "fixed" anyway. C6 Corvettes are actually a reliable daily driver

I would totally daily a C6 Z06. It’s not a BMW but as long as you don’t expect that it’s a very reasonable ride and easy to get around. And yes, I would definitely get an aftermarket warranty. I don’t know too much about them specifically but with the costs of these motors it’ll be worth it.

I have a 135i and the ZR1. Hands down the 135i for a daily. However they are both toy cars IMHO and neither are the best choice for a DD. I prefer a SUV for a daily.

I daily my 08 C6Z from Manteca to San Francisco CA and back (156 miles daily). My philosophy is that I spend so much of my time behind the wheel that I want to enjoy it.

My 07Z was my daily for 13 years, putting 110K+ miles on it. In retrospect I wouldn't have had it any other way. I actually looked forward to driving to/from work. I'm one of the few that actually got their money's worth out of their Z.
After retirement I drove it only a little, until I sold it for my new upcoming C8. It's one of the cars I actually and truly miss...

Could it be done, sure, as shown by a few members who have already chimed in. Personally, I know I couldn't, even if I did live in a part of the country where it would be possible. It has nothing to do with comfort, as I find the C6 a very comfortable car to be in, more comfortable than my other 2 cars (Chevy SS sedan & GMC Canyon Denali), actually.
The main thing for me would be how loud it is inside the cabin (exhaust, engine, tire/road noise). Granted, that is part of the fun and character of the Z06 (IMO), but after a long road trip, it does grow a little tiresome. Now, back in my 20s, my daily for 4-years was a very loud Formula WS6 and I never had a problem with that -- so maybe I'm just showing my age?
As someone already said, If you want it, and a daily for you doesn't require any practicality, go for it. Certainly a high level of entertainment factor, to say the least.

All great points... You have a tough choice... For me, I don't think I do it. Not because of the ride, but because of all of the hazards on the roads and jack asses out there. I DD an 07 AWD TBSS.. Its perfect ( for me).. Loved my 08Z06.. but could never DD it...

I've daily driven (except on snow days) my 09 C6Z for 7 years now.
I bought it used with around 13,000 miles on it, and I'm just over 75,000 miles now.
Awesome car to have as a daily. I have headers and a few bolt ons, but threw on a set of stock ZR1 mufflers to keep everything quiet when you want and loud when you get on it.
Soon to have a ported MSD and a cam, so we'll see if my opinion changes.

Something no one else has said, depends on where you are going daily. Are you your own boss? Does your job have a political element to it? Wish it weren't so, but my daily driving the Z cost me tons of income, possibly contract renewals at jobs. One of the Corvette taxes is, you outrun your superiors or even your peers, and it can backfire.
If you work for a bunch of married people with children, get a Honda Civic with 300k miles on it; be seen broken down on the side of the road. America is a Socialist country if you have to have a job. Hide your toys.
Good luck.
