[ZR1] Sold my C6ZR - Where the market REALLY sits on these cars

The only reason I didn't list it on the forum is for that very reason. Of all places, the C6ZR tends to sit and feels a little undervalued here. It's one of the few cars that I feel the forum tends to be full of too many lowballs and price bashers and I didn't really wanna deal with all that drama.
If you have the time, patience and don't mind swimming through the olympic sized pool of the no-shows, flakes, lowballs, question masters and ghosts, I have no doubt you could get what you paid, maybe even more. I've grown quite tired of it personally, and my price reflected it. Plus remember mine still had rotor vibration that the next owner would no doubt knock money off for.
And not that it's related, but I knew that within a week the Q2 report was coming out on Tesla so I immediately reinvested the sale money in stock to turn at $13K profit this morning. Didn't take me long to feel a little better about the sale
Gonna miss a lot of you guys in the ZR forum. Great group of people with lots of great information

Thanks for the info! Where did you list your ZR1 that you got so much activity? Craigslist?

Although AutoTrader is one of the priciest online listing sites, I've never had anything but good luck with them. and if you choose the top listing option, it stays listed until is sells, although you do have to renew the ad each month by clicking a button.

New here, just started looking for a C6 6MT. This thread is very informative to know the value of the ZR-1. I'm looking for anything from a GS to a ZR-1. This 2009 ZR-1 by Private Seller is very interesting, the only one within 500 miles of me in Denver, it's just about an hour away. Surprisingly it's been listed for over a month and the price reduced at least once. Do you know if the seller is on this forum ? Seems like he / she would be if they've owned over 20 Corvettes as stated in the ad. Also, does this seem like a good price for Private Party ? Thanks In advance, I'm learning a ton from the C6 Forum, a month ago I didn't even know about the Cyl. Head issues in the Z06 LS7.
at that price, I’d contact him quick. All it needs are tires, which to me is actually a good thing it has original date code tires....likely wasn’t beat on
seems to me proximity is one of the most important issues with these, and you’re close so.....

Not sure why us private sale guys get they *** end of things when it comes to selling these. When I sold my first ZR1 I was made offers of 40-45k no joke. It’s insane
the dealer will have better resources, time and exposure to be able to list it in places we can’t I guess.

dealers get lowball offers too, they just don’t get offended, say no ...move on, and have patience. They also have a financing guy on site to help the lazy people who need a loan that don’t want to go to the bank themselves.

Also, especially in this price range on 7 to 11 year old cars, financing is barely an option if someone needs a loan and buys from a private seller. Dealers somehow always manage to magically come up with 72 month loans on a 10 year old Chevy. *for only 11.9%*

I'm a strong believer that people just dont expect to pay top dollar to a private sale vs dealer.

I know when I bought my Callaway Carbon Edition different banks & credit unions had different valuations of the car. A couple valued it max $45k because it was simply an ‘11 Z06 in their system whereas others considered the actual original price of the car with the options ($15k Carbon Edition pkg, $25k Callaway pkg) & valued it much higher with much lower interest rates. Just have to shop around. But yeah the dealer’s first offer was 10.5%, when I told them my CU was at 3.5% they magically beat it with a 3.29%

Because most people don’t go in knowing their credit scores or having financing already secured they just go with what the dealership finance manager says.
I haven’t purchased a car in person in 15 years & do all the negotiating/finalizing through email/phone before I ever step foot in the dealership. I secured the deal on my Callaway when I was on vacation in Hawaii, had them send me the paperwork via docusign & then went to pick it up the day I got back.
If they want to sell the car bad enough it’s funny what they can do.

I actually just took a look at what's for sale across the nation, and I think the value of mine went UP since I bought it. All of the low mile examples are low to mid 60s now with some priced into the 70s. I don't see how it can last, though. I think it's a side effect of the production slowdown due to COVID crap. There are a couple of private party sellers in the low 50s, though.
