i do agree it does not take much to get some solid improvements from a c5, c6 or the c7 my c5z h/c/i puts down 510rwhp and clips high 10's but now lightly mod a zr1 and your talking 650+ rear wheel in a car that still drive like stock!

GUM1993 my cousins have c7 z's and the car performance is impressive the handling is out standing IMO but it is much more relaxing behind the wheel then the c6 zr1, for me the zr1 is more of a thrill exciting even if the track numbers are not as fast, my only grip about the zr1 is the dated Navigation system witch im 50/50 on updating

I do concur on the high level of competency of the C7 Z06. It is a very well sorted out car that can have high levels of performance if that is the platform you chose to horsepower up. But at the end of the day you still have to deal with 350 lbs more weight than a C6 Z06 and over 200 lbs more weight over the C6 ZR1. As others here have mentioned it feels almost too refined for my taste. Even the C6 ZR1, which by comparison does feel more raw, is not as rewarding for me as the C6 Z06, remembering that my happy level is a mere 650 or so engine horsepower. If I was chasing a lot more than that, I would have kept my C6 ZR1. As it is I find my favorite C6 Z06 that has less than 5 lbs per horsepower is a sweet spot for me. Everyone has their own objectives but that sure hits mine.

Im not talking down on the c7z at all, I just think they arent comparable in my opinion. C7z is just too refined and boring. The handling was amazing and everything was perfect but it just didnt have that fun cool factor to me. IDK its hard to explain in words. Its more of a feeling thing. And i do have to agree about the c6z. That was an amazing car to own and is even more raw than the zr1. The c6z was the reason why i went back to the c6 platform. I just couldnt get it out of my mind the whole time i had the c7. The fact the zr1 is so easy to make power from makes it the perfect car. My happy place is around higher 600s whp. But everyone is different. Cant go wrong with any of these cars but if i were to put money in a car it would be the c6 zr1.

I find most c6z owners buy zr1 parts to make it look like a zr1, front/side lips, spoiler, halo/roof, carbon breaks, wheels ect...
I loved my z06 but I was scared the motor blowing every time I took it out and found myself listening to everything going on in the engine bay instead of enjoying my drive

They will go back to 59-65 if the economy drags down more. If not they will stay where the are at. Great risk/return IMO Vs buying a newer vette. Best engine chevy ever built as well. That’s not arguable.

Don't forget those were all available options on the Z06 from 2011- on.

Yep, and I love the z07 cause it almost looks like a zr1, but it doesn't have the bulletproof ls9 unfortunately.

I got mine 9/19, working on a job and the owner had it parked in the garage along with 4 others cars, said he was looking to trade in his corvette for a new c8 and a 2019 carbon 65. Told him I was interested and he would let me know what the dealership offered him on the trade, I could have it for that price. 2009 ZR1 3zr 7500 miles, dealer came back with 40k. So yes 40k is was, my first corvette and what a fun car and GREAT deal.

Sent it out for paint correction, PPF and ceramic coating.

I just bought an 03' C5Z C5-R body from a forum member. He sold it to me after he bought his C6ZR1. Over 100K invested: It has a Carbon Fiber hood and C5-R Wing/spoiler, widened fenders all frenched in to match the body and then the car was painted and pin striped by hand. It sits on C6Z wheels 18x10s up front and 19x12s rear. Suspension is LG Motorsports G2 Coil overs and let me tell you the car flat out handles. It has 41K miles all stock LS6 with Corsa X-treme mufflers and it is perfect! I also have a C7Z M7 car making 676/660 wheel. And let me tell you, the C5Z in my opinion is a funner car to drive. Hard to say which one is better, they're both good, just different. I can put all the power down in the C5Z on the other hand the C7Z is always ready to bite you.
I plan on doing a review of all 3 cars on my YouTube channel called Rdubfalco. Here's a few pics of a C5-R clone that is all paint and pin striped, not a wrap. I think the C5,C6, & C7's are all great vettes, depends on how you set them up. My C7Z is a 1LZ car and weighed 3,468 with me in it. Tillet has carbon fiber seats that weigh 6 pounds each. Install those and remove 1LZ seats that weigh 70 lbs each and you've removed 130 something pounds out of the car. So the C7 has some weight saving mods too. I don't know, they're all badass vettes!

the c5z's are the most raw out of the 3 i agree with that 100%, most fun in a straight line especially when modded handles well but not as good as the newer generations in the curves (on stock suspension) but still an impressive car especially when they was under $20k,

$40k was a gift and one hell of an investment im sure you can double up on it right now or more

It might be tough to find a great deal these days. I sold my friends 2011 3ZR w/25,000 miles for 78K in late April

Isn't it crazy what prices were just a couple short years ago. I wouldn't be able to touch my Callaway now for anywhere close to what I paid in March of 2020. That makes it tempting to sell & I get offers about once a month, but I'm not going to find another one like it - so it stays

FWIW...another local club member just got a 2017 Z06..he pulled up beside me on a club ride, and I walked him easily TWICE from 70 up to about 165 MPH........needless to say, he was quite surprised, as I think he was looking for some bragging rights that proved to be much more elusive than he thought they would.

he posted this meme after.......with this caption
"If you know, you know"

well prices have jumped 30k dollars, I’m a idiot who sold 2, one of them for 55k with 14k miles and mint condition. Oh well, typical luck for me

The way I think about the C6 ZR1 is that all the cars in this class have exceeded or far exceeded their original MSRP: Porsche GT2/RS, GT3/RS, Vipers, C7 ZR1, MC, etc. But the C6 ZR1 is not even back to MSRP yet! I think that you are getting a heck of a lot of car for the money.

I bought this 2011 ZR1 in November of last year. 3ZR with 5k miles. Very tastefully modified. I paid over $80k and wouldn’t even consider selling this car for $100k. I am absolutely in love with it.
