I sure hope GM grows some ***** and makes the C6 Z06 with atleast 500 hp and blows the Viper/Cobra out of the water.

its redick when, IMO the best overall america's sport car keeps being hampered by GMs lack of ***** to put a HIGH hp motor in and waste the competition.

Hell My own brother who has a 1997 vemon gts blue/white says "vette should be the most powerfull american sports car too bad its not"

sad when a stock Cobra-R has more power or with a simple pulley change is well over the 410 rhp mark surpassing anything GM has to offer for $18,000 less.

I love my vette but come on GM get some sack and put some ***** in the new Z06 set it apart from the std models and all the others on the american market. Worried about gas guzzlers tax make the motor a multi cylinder where it can run on 6 when under low loads.

Nothing I say here will change thier mentallity so Iam just venting thanks for a place to do that

The C6 Z06 needs to be unarguably faster than the Viper. It really does.

Whoa that maybe a lofty goal considering the Viper-SRT10 currently has a stout 525lbs-ft of torque (>85% of that power is available down low from 1600rpms) and don't think DC will be caught standing still. That said, let's hope the C6 'Z06' is a competetive performer without excuses. The 'BlueDevil' concept sure sounds interesting as well. I can't wait to pick one of those energized puppies up and park it next to the boss. It sure is fun times!:D

You're right. HP isn't everything. HP/Liter is everything. That's why as soon as I heard the C6 is only going to have 400 HP I decided that I'd just buy an old accord and put a turbo on it (along with a wing and a big red 'R' sticker).

the viper also currently weighs over 3400lbs. The Z06 won't need anymore than 500ft lbs to beat it, especially if it weighs 2900lbs.

500 lbs is alot, just ask the cobra boys. Dyno racing is good for about the paper it's printed on.

I don't think there's much doubt that the current Viper creamates the current Z06.

But if the new one comes in close to 3000lbs with 500/500 as well, it will be a much closer comparison.

why are you referring to a C5 Z06? I'm talking about the C6 Z06 that should weigh under 3000 lbs and be in the neighborhood of 500hp. The point I was making was with the new vette being 500 lbs lighter than the viper, the new vette won't even need as much power to be competitive. 500 lbs is probably the equivalent of 50 crank hp. :smash:

I certainly agree with ya on this. People can complain about the HP thing all day long but fortget to mention that the cobra weighs 500LB more. Further more, what would you rather ride in a vette or a cobra. Vettes win hands down. I would bet that cobra's do not get half the attention that my C5 gets.

Ok, I don't own a Vette (YET), but help me out here. Am I to believe that most Corvette owners buy their car because they thought it was the fastest vehicle on the road? I mean, you guys knew there were faster cars out there right? Or was the salesman that sold it to you incredibly convincing and told you that for $44-56k you were getting the fastest car on the planet?

I grow weary of this "gotta beat the Viper" garbage.
