Specs - 500 hp - 489 ft/lbs
This is the new info coming out of http://www.cheersandgears.com. Supposely comes from a reliable source. I know we knew about the 500 hp, but maybe this 489 ft/lbs torque will give you a little to quench your Z06 thirst.
I hope this source is better than the guy that was claiming 455 hp in the C6 forum about a month before the C6 release, that guy even used the "you can take that to the bank" line. :lolg:

If the HP truly is above the torque, then I expect that the extra HP comes from a redline increase. 7,000 RPM perhaps?

Re: Specs - 500 hp - 489 ft/lbs (Curtis A. Franz)
For the umpteenth time, NOTHING about the engine that will power the Z06 is CONFIRMED, but if you analyze all the intelligence it looks like it will be designated LS7 and the displacement will be 6.4L with 3V heads.
NOTHING will be confirmed until Chevrolet officially announces the engine at the Detroit Auto Show next year, but by then the G2 will probably have the specifics of the architecture nailed down.
The 3V heads are very UNLIKELY to show up in NASCAR. If they let Chevy run a 3V engine, they will have to let everyone else run 3V heads, and I don't think all the manufacturers want to fund another round of engine development, (especially Toyota, which is just getting their new NASCAR engine on the track) so the SB2, which is a UNIQUE configuration specifically developed for NASCAR will soldier on for at least another 50 years, along with Holley carburetors. ;)

FYI Josh (from cheersandgears.com) always has reliable info. Search the cheersandgears.com forums for his screenname, you'll find GM info that was posted by him way before it was publicly available.

I went on that site but could not find Josh quoting that. Can someone post the link directly to his saying that?
Thanks

It only makes sense since the LS2 is now at the LS6 redline.

Man, that sucks. Only 489 ft/lbs of torque? That's just not enough! *whine, complain, etc* :D But seriously folks...
Those are cool stats. It's pretty much the power of an F40 I think. Just with more weight.
