Do u think the general will go over 500 hp?
i know most speculation has been 450-500 hp but earlier on a dealers site, speculation on the Z was 510-525hp, thanx for your thoughts. :chevy

If the motor makes a few percent over 500hp, they'll probably underrate it.
I think the round number attracts more attention.
And there's a few examples in recent history where a last-minute change made power dip slightly and customer cars weren't quite reaching claims -- Mustang Cobra, Mazda Miata, Mazda RX-8. Big negative publicity. Far better to claim 500hp and bask in the positive glow of "overperforming" dyno results.

:iagree: but i think if it makes more than marginally more power/lb. ft. it should be listed, especially with the ford gt now being assumed to have 550 hp, i think it was lutz or hill who were interviewed in a mag and said the new Z would suck the doors of both the viper and the gt

I agree that if anything, it should be under-rated rather than advertised at it's limit. Chevrolet don't need the negative publicity the other's have had. Let's keep everyone HAPPY that they purchased a 500 H.P. car and it actually puts out 525-550.
