Too good to be true? You bet. This Fake ZR-1 is listed at a Texas dealership with a sketchy past.

First of all, the car is a 2008. ZR1 came out in 2009. They only say ZR1 wheels. They are not selling it as a true ZR1. You would have to be silly to think you can buy a ZR1 for 20k.

^^Agree, but the headline on the ad reads; Used 2008 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1
$19,995 96,480 mi.. Granted, anyone that knows Corvettes or even looks more closely at the ad should not be conned, but clearly there's at least an attempt to fool would be buyers.

I know it says ZR1 wheels in the details portion. In the header it doesn't. It's simply advertised as a 2008 ZR1.

To the writer that wrote this article.

"ZR-1 rims are on there, but the rest just looks like a standard Stingray."

To me it looks nothing like a Stingray. Guess the writer isn't a Corvette enthusiast...

Same dealership on eBay listed a C7 Z06 and said it was a Z07 because it has the "apperance package"

If you click on the red highlighted portion of the article that says "Corvette Warehouse is currently offering the Fake ZR1" it will take you to a cars.com ad which does advertise the car as a 2008 ZR1.

Tried posting the link, but it didn't work.

Nevertheless, there is no such thing as a 2008 ZR1.

Yeah, I know that too. I was just baffled why we weren't seeing the same thing. Two different ads.

sketchy past? People must have had some bad luck with them. I bought my C5 Z06 there and it went rather smooth with no issues.

i highly doubt theyre trying to pass it off as a zr1, I think you guys are making a mountain out of a typo....

Ive been to that dealer plenty of times, they have a ton of vettes and only sell vettes, I'm pretty sure they know what a zr1 is. Also, anyone who thinks that a base c6 is a zr1 shouldnt be near a corvette.

I've had bad expirences with this dealer but from I can tell the ad is spot on. If I was looking at it I can clearly tell they are not offering a ZR1. Especially when you scroll down it says it's a coupe w/ zr1 wheels.
