Thinking C6?
Instead of financing 10k, I will be financing 16-18k. Is it worth it? I start grad school next fall, but I dont want to regret getting the older generation vette.
I have been dreaming of a vette for about 8 years now.
! Made countless cash offers, but all were shot down. What fool wouldn't spend just another $5,000 to have a NEW vette with full warranty, new body style, better resale value down the road, and same horsepower (405 vs. 400), but better TQ curve due to bigger 6.0L engine? The most I'll ever pay for a C5 in any year or condition would be 10 grand less than the newer model thats out. BTW-most of the ZO6's that I made offers on are still for sale

Geez....MagRed says it all. Basically if you want to restrict your payments, keep the monthly cost down and your down payment lower, then look at a C5. However, as cost goes, it seems the C5s (all years) are holding a decent resale value. That's why you're seeing the prices you are on C5s. Are they worth the money ? You say "no" and I say "no". Things are worth what one is willing to pay.
I believe if I were you, I'd look at a C6. MagRed gets my vote when he says for the little difference in money...get a C6. 400 horses, C6 vs 405 in a C5-Z06. Seems like a no-brainer !
FYI....I have a 2000 FRC with 41k on it. It's become my favorite car of all time. No problems with it....great mileage, and power on-demand. Plus it's Torch Red !
Good luck on your choice. Either way...I believe both generations are good cars. You can't lose.
