Considering 2013 427 vert pros/cons everyone
I loved my 2011 gs vert with auto/mrc 3lt.
Was thinking about another and keep running across the 2013 427 convertible.
With all the issues from the 427 engine in the zo6 can anyone chime in as to good vs bad of the 13 vert 427 vs another gs vert auto and mrc.
I know a lot is preference but would appreciate any feed back from people that have owned the 427 gone to c7 now or people that own gs and keeping it over getting 427.
Thanks for everyone's time and help. Looking for the ultimate weekend convertible cruiser to have a blast.

I had a C7 convertible, auto, for about 8,000 miles and traded even up for a 13 427, both were torch red with black tops
2014 C7
Then the 427
The C7 has a great information center 10x better than the C6, stereo is better, HUD 10x better, but the C7 seat gave me a tight fit.A big game changer for me was that there are or will be a gazillion C7 produced in the coming years, there are only 2,552 C6 2013 427’s made. I did not have any trouble with the motor on the 427 nor did the previous owner however I had Headers, a cold air induction system and a cam put in my 427, while they were doing that I had them do valve job with new, stronger valve guides.. I recently drove from N. Dakota to Florida and back with no issues other than a Missouri State Trooper and 90 in a 70 mph limit on the interstate.
I traded for the 427 and I’m glad I did, no regrets, I get so many comments about the 427. Do it, and become one of the few, the proud, A 427 owner.

And that C6 convertible is 10x better looking than a C7.

Thanks for the feedback. I need to go see one in person. I love the slotted vents on the gs and the auto as I am in heavy traffic a lot.
That being said I like the top quality and low production numbers a lot. I am not a person that wants what everyone else has.

I have the 427 and love it! I am having the heads replaced next week to relax my fears of that.
It's a great car, and I love driving it. Almost at 10K miles now, and I've added headers, exhaust, air box, and a tune....heads and cam next week.
You won't be sorry you bought one unless you want an auto trans....427s are all 6 speed manual cars.

After much debate I ended up with a 12 grandsport convertible with auto due to some issues where I wanted to ensure I can enjoy the car for many years to come.
Again I really appreciate the help. Everyone on this forum is awesome.
Hope to see some of you here in Florida for meets or just rides going places.

Everyone I really appreciate all the input and ideas the 427 sounds great after the heads are reworked.

2012 3lt GS auto and mrc with z51 package like all gs. Best of all corvette worlds but no 427. Love the 427 but I can't have a straight drive right now maybe in the future.

427 vs Grand Sport
I traded my 2013 Grand Sport coupe for the 427 almost two years ago. The difference was extreme handling and ride is so much better I think the Michelin tires have a lot to do with it. The power of the LS7 is more than you can use on the street. My dealer is about 60 miles away so I had a good opportunity to see the difference I wasn't expecting much difference other than horsepower. They are truly different cars the 427 is a blast to drive and more refined. If you have a chance to drive a 427 you will be amazed how nice the 427 is.
My wife had a 2014 C7 that we traded for a 2015 Z51 I would only consider the Z51 if you buy a C7. The C7 is a great car handles great and very quick especially the 8 speed automatic big difference from the 6 speed automatic.
I have twice been close to trading the 427 for a C7 Z06. But at this point can't see the additional $40,000. If you are tall or big I think you will find the C7 seats to be uncomfortable the C7 is quite a bit smaller inside can't fit if you have long legs on the passenger's side.
We have owned a lot of Corvettes 90 ZR1 C5 and 6 Z06s all were great cars but the 427 is my favorite. GM had a long time in the C6 run to get it right and I believe they did with the 427.
You said you are looking for the ultimate weekend cruiser drive a 427 and I believe you will agree that you have found it. That is really what the car is made to do.
As far as the LS7 reliability the percentage of engines that have problems is low. I have had an 08, 11 and the 13 with no problems.
Get an extended warranty and enjoy!

Melting Slicks
I'm late to the party but...why would an auto be a concern? I understand being in heavy traffic but, the stock clutch is pretty nice and, I'm assuming that the car wouldn't have been a DD right?
