Spot in Line for Sale
To All, I sold the spot! Thanks for your interest and concern relative to a refund.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++
Last October I put $2K down at Maxie Price w/ Monica to hold a 2005 Convertible (I'm 3rd in line). I've since changed my mind and want to sell it at a discount--my loss your gain. Buy it for $1.5K and save$500. Monica knows about this and the money can pass through her so you know all is on the up and up. Respond to my post with how I can contact you and we'll do the details. Re: Spot in Line for Sale (Electron Blue '02)
Why lose $500 when the deposit is refundable?
If the # 3 spot is guaranteed, you should be able to get someone to buy it for the full $2,000. Good luck.

To all, I should have mentioned. The deposit is not refundable, thats why I'm going this route. As for the discount per the last post, I figure this extra step you need to go thru may seem a burden so $500 off makes it more palatable.

I am interested in taking your spot. I would like to talk to Monica about it and pending that discussion I will take your spot.

I would verify that the deposit is not refundable. In California, you are not allowed to keep a deposit on a car that is not delivered. Maybe the laws are different where Monica is? There should be an Auto Advisory Board you can check with. I guess it is a moot point if someone is willing to pick up your deposit for you though. I'm sure you would rather have the car in any case.

I would be very interested in knowing why the deposit is not refundable. When you placed the deposit, they didn't know the pricing, options or anything. Certainly they won't try to hold you to a "deal" until you had all that information.
Also, I'm sure they will be able to sell everyone they get for quite a while.
Is there something we should know here. I think when evaluating dealers, especially forum vendors, this is information that will help us all make informed decisons.
Thanks.

That was Maxie Price's policy and it was clearly stated. Whether it's legal or not is another matter. There are a number of states that require the deposit to be returned even if the car is delivered to the dealer. You would have to find out the State of Georgia laws that apply and if they differ for out of state purchasers as opposed to residents.

If there are other factors involved, I'm willing to consider the other side to the story.

This isn't about the law or the policy. It's about doing the right thing. Unless there was some special concession made in return for the deposit, I don't agree with it. And just holding a place in line does not constitute anything special to me. The fact that a deposit is required for a spot in line tells me they expect to pre-sell every one they get through the deposit phase. So what is Maxie Price out by returning his deposit?
