Wonder how many C6's have been pre-ordered
Please excuse all my newbie questions, just trying to understand some past trends that may help me decide when I will place my C6 order.
Anyone have a good guess at how many deposits have been made on C6's??
Two weeks ago The #2 Vette dealer in US told me that he had 199 deposits. This MI dealer reportedly sells 600 per year so 1/3 of his allocation is spoken for. There sure seem to be a lot of C5's in inventory--is it more than usual this time of year?? Is it because so many people are waiting for the C6
What was it like 3 months before the C5's started shipping?? Was production the first year of the C5 as high as the last C4 year??
I would like to wait for supplier discounts on the C6, but I read on this forum that it was 3-4 years before the C5 suppliers discounts were available (is this correct??).
One thing for sure, there will not be any discounts as long as sales projections stay "on the line". Will C6 production be around 33,000 vehicles, or will GM keep inventory at 60-70 day levels which could mean varied production rates--just curious how Vette supply/demand is managed by GM.

Re: Wonder how many C6's have been pre-ordered (HHC5)
It's hard to say how many deposits have been taken for the C6. Yes, there are more C5s on the lot than usual. It's mainly because most people who are wanting a Corvette are waiting on the C6. So big discounts can be had on remaining C5s. The same was true in 96 with the last year of the C4. I was able to purchase a 96 LT4 CE in the first month of the model year at $2000 below invoice. I'd say even bigger discounts were to be had on the last year of the C4.
The start of C6 production will be vastly different than that of the C5. The C5 was so much different from the C4 that a whole new assembly line had to be installed. After the last C4 was built the whole plant was gutted and then started from scratch. With this the C5 did not start production until February. Therefore only 9752 1997 models were built. This is not true with the C6. They are currently building test C6s on the same line as the C5. So hopefully the start of production will go much smoother.
As far as discounts on the C5 even in the 2001 model year most people felt they were lucky to get $1000-2000 off MSRP.

Because of her slightly higher price, MONICA has a shorter pre-sold list(msrp+$481). try her and work your local dealers and all the CF sponsors
