I'm not looking to purchase a C6, but if I were, I would bet I could get one at $1500 off MSRP and have it in my garage by November, 2004. Personally, I don't believe the demand for the C6 will be near that of the C5 and I think that by January 2005, C6's will be available for $2-2500 off MSRP from a lot of dealers. When the Z06 is available I think it will hold closer to MSRP for a longer period of time, but the coupe and conv will be sitting on the dealer's lots. Just my opinion, and not backed up by any facts.
When I purchased my '01 C5 Vert in Oct. 2000 All the local Central
Fla dealer were still getting MSRP or close to it, 3 years after the
C5 came out...

I talked to Bruce Glueck Chevrolet in Jasper, FL during July/Aug, 1997 and while not offering any "discounts" on a C5, they were including $1050 worth of opinions at "no charge", and had the allocations to obtain the car in 6 weeks. I ended up purchasing mine at $1000 off MSPR from a large dealer (with plenty of allocations) just 2 & 1/2 hrs from home. I could have gotten the same deal from several local dealers but they had small allocations and couldn't tell me when I would recieve my car. My local "large" dealer was marking the C5 up $10,000 over MSRP when I talked to them on a Thursday. On the following Tuesday, the idiot (aka "a salesman") called me and said they just unloaded two C5's off the truck and wanted to know if I was interested. Of course, I told him NO at his prices. He said I could have my choice at MSRP. With two unsold C5's in his showroom, I'm positive that I could have easily gotten $1000 off MSRP if I purchased one of them that afternoon. neither of the two were equipped with the options or the color I wanted, so I didn't try to make a deal, but they sure were ready to let me test drive one.

Greed is made easier when high rollers pay big bucks!!!! My local dealer has all the last C-5's marked UP 10,000 dollars over sticker!!!!

My 04 triple black roadster has an OFFICIAL dealer sticker of 66,954.00

Thanks to Monica and Rick I was able to talk my dealer down to a great price.... but my dealer and I are friends and he told me that many basketball stars, high rollers, etc.... pay whatever they ask for their cars.... NO QUESTIONS!!!!

I work at Classic Chevy in Grapevine, Texas. We are at MSRP with no dealer mark-up or prep fees. We are going to get a good selection. Please feel free to call me toll-free at 800-259-1200.

Well even if you pay MSRP its better then some of the people who payed $100,000 for a ZR-1 back in 1990.

My dealer (Tom Chevrolet, Norwood, MA) took a deposit to be #4 on a waiting list, including a signed sales agreement to sell at MSRP. They moaned and groaned that they were going for $5K over MSRP (nice Academy Award winning performance) but they jumped when I said I would agree to MSRP. The Bastards. LOL.

Default 2K over MSRP

I was offered 2K over MSRP. I thought that was fair at the time, but after reading this thread, I think I better go back and demand MSRP or at the most 1K over MSRP. What do you guys think?

Why look for 1k-2k over invoice when you can get it for MSRP from forum sponsers??

Not only can you get a better deal from a forum dealer but it is also
likely that your dealer has a VERY small allocation. Result, you pay more
and wait MUCH,MUCH longer.

Sounds like the exact same experience I had.

I guess if I could do it over again, I'd probably purchase the car via a forum dealer as I'm not saving any money by going through a local dealer and something tells me I'll probably have to wait an extra month or two as well. Oh well, it was a learning experience.

Default Thanks guys

I'm feel much wiser now. Going to cancel my order with the local dealer today, and contact a forum dealer two seconds after that. Thanks guys.

Default Its Done!

I called the local dealer and demanded MSRP or cancel my order. They opted to cancel my order and are going to refund the $500.00 deposit. They tried to tell me that 2K over MSRP was the best I was going to find in the area, and they everyother dealer was doing 3500 over.

As soon as I hung up the phone with them, called Kristen at Kerbeck in Atlantic City, told her what I wanted to order, and got MSRP pricing. Easy as 1,2,3... I'll be sending my $1500.00 to her tonight, expected delivery will be around early October. $2000.00 saved!

That will be a wonderful 160 mile drive home in October, I can't wait

Thanks again guys!

Since you are in Upper Marlboro, MD if Kerbeck does not work out for you try Criswell in Gaithersburg. I have have an order there at MSRP. If you decide to contact them ask for Tim Mauro. He is the sales manager and their primary Corvette salesman. He knows their order list and allocation better than most of the sale staff. I also shopped at Sport but they wanted an ADM of $8 - $10K.

The general manager at my dealership says MSRP, but my salesman says he thinks he can get a "little" off of that. I probably won't know for sure 'til about the end of Sept.
