Default boosting on ls2 engine

from what i know, boosting in stock engines blowes it up, even if it is 3PSI, and if the engine didn't blow up, it will have shorter life. is that true???????????

Not sure who told you this info but they are very misguided. Motors only blow when something has not been done right.

Too much boost for stock internals (a lot more than 3lbs)

Not enough fuel supply or AFR is at an undesirable level

Timing

the above 3 are what cause most peoples motors to grenade.

I run 6.5 lbs with no issues.

make sure your tune is good and you can breath again!

what are mail order tunes?
is there any avalible tune chip for the c6

I've recieved a c6 lowering kit that I ordered from wcc
http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/ps-...-bolt-kit.aspx
have anyone installed these yet?
if so, how long does it take to install them?
is it hard?

Have anyone installed Kooks headers & X-Pipe with the original catback?
I'm thinking about ordering kooks, and I want to know how many horsepower gain should I expect?
and do they sound nice?

I want to change my shifting point to 7000 RPM on my C6
is it safe or do i have to change the oil pump?
are there anything else to be changed as will? (HOPE NOT)

what's the z51 package?
I have A6 C6 and I want to know does it have a Z51 package or not?
how can I defferenciate?

FWIW, you can certainly boost a stock motor with a fair level of safety provided you run good fuel and have a solid tune. I've been boosted for two years on a stock bottom end without issue.

Good luck,

In really high ambient temperatures like you have in the Mid East, low and consistent charge air tempertaure (very efficient air to air intercooling) will be critical to ensure zero engine detonation and therefore reliable engine operation. You will most likely require a larger/more efficient radiator and full flow engine oil cooler to keep the engine temps under control, particulary at sustained high speed/high engine load conditions.

I know that high octane fuel is readily available in Qatar. You will need a very safe tuning strategy (ignition timing retard and richer air fuel ratios at full load) and to keep the boost down to around 6 to 7 PSI and then you will then have a very reliable and powerful daily driven C6.

Smart and thorough engine tuning will be the real key to ensure safe engine operation, good luck should you proceed with FI.

Absolutely. Some people here need to remember that CorvetteForum attracts Corvette enthusiasts worldwide.

Gheez you people sometimes.

I was making the same comments everyone else gets when they join and immediately post away questions that have been answered 1,2,3,4....times.

I just made a comment saying search a little. Like I care how good your English is, if your looking for a pitty cry wrong place! My President cant even speak proper English, think I care if someone in another country can?

Take it as newbie hazing....

Now will someone agree with me and the rest of you get off my back about attacking someones english...with a name like Valdez I speak a few languages myself.

I agree, heat can be a problem with FI, however getting a water\meth injection kit with your SC\TT may be a great idea in your area. It will cool the engine durning operation and decrease detionation. FJO Racing has a nice kit for around $700 dollars.

As stated as long as you keep Detination, AFR, Timing at bay your engine will last a long time(A Good Tune with good Fuel).

the ls2 is a stout engine, and will make power on lower boost due to the larger displacement. going up to 690 hp seems to be working out ok huh peter.

that's very impressive power that will give you more to worry about than hurting the engine.

no engine tolerates detonation very well, and the factory ring lands might not hold up too well with a crappy tune or being hammered from detonating.

blown up a few buzzin half duzzin (turbo buicks) to learn a couple of things

good luck
