What is the largest turbos that will fit on the APS C6 manifolds? Do you need to upgrade the wastegates to run 15psi or can you just adjust the accuator arm?
I think that the largest turbos that will fit the manifolds themselves are on there. I haven't mounted up my kit yet, but I bet it is pretty cramped.
However, it might be possible to fit a larger cartridge in the existing housings by having them machined...I took my manifolds/turbos apart today (preparing for coating and possibly extrude honing) and spent some time looking at the exhaust housings. It looked to me like there might be enough thickness in the housings to fit something bigger, but I am by no means a pro.
In regards to the wastegates...an EBC should be all that you need for 15psi, although I do know that Tom @ NLP was working on fitting some billet actuators to replace the stockers, he has a TON of experience with this stuff...give him a call.
The kit is currently on a 06 A6 and running of the wastegate we are seeing 5psi. With the greddy electronic boost controller we are only seeing 6.5 psi. The car is getting a 402 next week.
Sounds like the EBC might not be setup correctly. There are usually a couple of dip switches (older models) or electronic options (newer models) that allow you to configure the controller for twins or a single.
If it is a newer model make sure that you have the overboost setting where you want it, or it will limit boost.
Do you need to upgrade the wastegates to run 15psi or can you just adjust the accuator arm?
Thanks
Josh
Josh, The C6 twin turbo system is delivered with 7.5 PSI boost control actuators that can be adjusted to around 9 PSI boost pressure. if you want run 15 psi then you would need to fit higher pressure boost control actuators. Obviously you would need a built forged engine with a staic comp ratio of approx 9:1 to safely run high boost pressure, hope that helps.
