Default Turbo Boost Controller question

How low can you turn down the boost in a turbo system if you have a boost controller? The reason I am asking is for a street application where traction is an issue, can you virtually turn off all boost in first gear?

No, the boost controller can't go any lower than the wastegate spring.

Yes you can. There are electronic boost controllers that can both take away boost and add it. You will have to prepare with tuning though. The common way is with a speed density tune.

You can't take away more than the wastegate spring. If it's a 10lb spring a controller can take you down to 10psi but not under 10psi.

I guess I should add that it takes a decrease solenoid and a dual port wastegate to do. It's not as easy as just turning the boost down on a standard system. Hope that clears up the confusion.

Please explain how this works as I'm not familiar with any boost referenced wastegate (in other words non-compressed gas actuated) that can produce enough pressure differential to open a wastegate at a lower psi than the spring is rated for.

Obviously you need an air supply. However, I missed the part in the original post about it being for the street. This is not real feasible for the street. It would be helpful in straightline racing where you might want a wide variance in boost control.
