Default Do I need a 100mm MAF

The installation of my A&A kit starts on Thursday (1/25). What are the advatages of using the LPE 100mm MAF versus the stock.

I'd really appreciate opinions of those with the 100mm, especially if they are using them in a FI application.

Thanks in advance

Todd

No, you do not need one... Most do not run it, since it isn't needed...

My buddies Shane and Jeremy , I'm going to have to dis-agree with you on this one.

The 100mm MAF will yield an improvement on a modded car. The more power your engine has, the more it yields. On a stock car , it's not worth the money.
HP gains will be very minimal if any. ON a modded car pushing high HP and a lot of air,it's a different story.
Whether it's FI or NA, the stock one starts to become a bottle neck. The 100mm unit flows more air all across the board.
I tried to find a dyno figure with a vette, to no avail.
I did find this one though:

Heres a link of a guy in a T/A with a 100mm unit.
Scroll down and look at the second to the last dyno chart .
It shows:
a base run
a run with a 100mm unit
a run with blower hat removed

does the 100mm sample any different? I mean the stock is what 90mm right? I just don't see the HP per dollar value.. there are much more important things to do with the cash at almost any level of performance.. Honestly I'd rather get an electric water pump then an MAF for it's benefits versus the minor HP increase of the MAF. Has anyone else done any comparisons?

I took the values from my OEM MAF tables from my HP Tuners software and put them side by side with the LPE MAF tables that I had to recalibrate to.

If you notice the LPE MAF at 10600Hz flows the same as the OEM one at 12200HZ.

At WOT your car is running off of your VE tables not your MAF/PE tables. So the fact that the computer sees it as flowing 511.99 G/S from 10,600Hz to 12,200Hz doesn't matter. You tune your VE tables for the extra air flow and add the fuel needed while monitoring your wide band O2.

Here's the table comparison:

Perry,
I saw only 2 rwhp on back to back pulls with tuning changes for the new 100mm maf, same A/F i have 2rwhp differences between pulls with the same maf... Not worth the $300 imho... bollas seems to like his stock one as well...
But these are just my findings
p.s. I'm still waiting for your products to hit the market!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe you, but maybe Halltech, is using a different dyno, he's claiming 4-5 rwhp and 8.8 rwto on a ported (I believe it's 100mm he wouldn't tell me)Z06 throttle body/maff mounted to a NA LS7...You think there's any truth to this or more salesman hype?
I'm asking cause I was interested in this very same subject, on my NA C6 LS2.
Jim, wrote me back saying the new C6 coming out in 2008 will supposedly be using an all new bigger throttle body/maf accounting for part of the rumored 425-450 hp C7?? He also said it wouldn't be interchangable on any other C6 from 05-07 because of different electronics to maff...

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Lingenfelter will tell you that their 100mm MAF is not any better until after 600hp.
