hey guys

quick question for all you turbocharged vette owners out there. I know that many people buy turbos for the horespower gains, but do turbos actually have a huge impact on acceleration?
for example on a stock A6 c6, could a turbo push it to 60 in under 4?
maybe this question seems dumb or newbish to you guys and i apologize

I think it would depend on how it was set-up.
My Maggie,I'm sure can get to 60 in 4 or less, and I know TT'S can do the same!!

They will definitely accelerate you harder from a dig, well assuming you don't buy a turbo so big you need a two-step to get it to spool off the line, but I doubt that will be the case.

I would say turbos have a HUGE impact on acceleration when done right, and Max @ Cartek brings up one of the most critical part of turbocharging any engine; turbo sizing to keep the power and fun throughout the powerband!

Acheiving sub-4 sec. to 60 is all about traction management with any FI setup on our cars, but turbos do have an advantage with the use of an EBC; features including - timer function to allow time-based boost control, for better control of aggressive turbo systems, adjustable boost ramps to improve launch control logic and re-spaced ramps for more linear boost control are used by drag racers in getting out of the hole.

You can hit 0-60 on the speedo almost instantly. Tires light up and spin to 100mph in less than 5 seconds - car goes no where though. But the smoke the tires make sure can be fun....

haha, well what about a supercharger or is that basically the same as a turbo.
the zo6 manages sub 4 times it is surprising that the FI can't achieve this feat w/o too much tire spin.

If your mainly concerned with 0-60 times, and speeds under and up to the typical speed limits, I wouldn't recommend forced induction. I'd recommend better tires, gears, boltons, ect. Traction can be difficult to manage under 60mph in forced induction cars.

I ran my car with a gtech today to answer your question. I have an A6 C6 with APS twins and APS exhaust. I had my DR tires on the car. I got decent traction and made 3 0-60 runs. I ran a 3.32 a 3.42 and a 3.11 The best 60ft was 1.765 and 3.11 sec 0-60 speed. I do think you could do better then these times. I think I could have loaded up the car a hair more.

The 30-120mph pulls (2nd gear from a roll in an A6) is awesome with a little better traction!

Good numbers! You have darn near the same set-up as I do. I knew I had to be getting pretty quick times.

It's all a matter of traction. I believe that a pure stock C6 will run a sub-4 sec zero to 60 with DR's and a good, sticky track.
