Default Boost-a-pump help needed.

Well, my set up does not blow fuses anymore. It now melts one leg or the other. This is the fuse that is inline with the Boost-a-pump. I put in a new fuse prior to going to Bowling Green for the Bash. I had no problems going up, making 6 passes on the drag strip, or driving back to Memphis. Parked the car till yesterday and drove to the golf course. When I came back to the car it would not start. Checked the fuse and one leg had been slightly burned. Replace fuse and on the way home it quit again. Went up front to replace it and found the whole side of the fuse burned and melted. The fuse link was still in one piece. The rubber fuse holder was also melted. Any Ideas???

Think I'd be giving ol' KB a call. Don't recall, but, is your call FI? The BAP for a FI motor has a vaccumn switch that powers up the unit during boost-only conditions. Think I remember that you used a relay to power the unit, so, maybe your car is NA. Anyway, sounds like the unit may be switching somehow to ground, to melt things. Your experiences with the BAP have me a little gun shy. My unit is installed, everything except running power to it. Think I will hold off finishing the install until I have more info. Honestly, never was comfortable with applying more juice to the fuel pump. Seems like a sure fire way to premature pump failure, or worse, just a sure fire! Please post when you cure your problem with the results. Good luck.

Yes it is FI. I am running an A&A Vortech kit on an 07 Vert/Z51/MN6. The first fuse blew while at 4000 rpm under part throttle. I made 6 full passes with no problem running 124mph in the qtr. Next to last one fried on start up. The last one while driving in stop and go traffic on the interstate. Tuner will be working on the car on Monday. He has another Boost-a-pump that he is going to swap in and is going to send my pump back to KB to see if they can find something wrong. He has not had a problem with them and has not heard of this type of problem before. I cannot find this problem listed anywhere on line and am thinking that this is probably a one time problem. I would go ahead and hook yours up making sure to use the proper gauge wire.

we have had the same issue twice with the msd unit. called the tech line over and over to explain it to them what we where seeing as well as others. they said the y would call us back and never have...it is a year later!!! so we have pulled the unit off our site. the fix it to remove the 25 cent fuse holder and install a good unit. we have used car audio fuse holders with great success. this will solve your problem
