The Callaway Magnacharger for LS3 is a high helix angle Roots-style positive displacement design, not twin-screw (Lysholm) design.

Oops. I meant C6 Z06 too. LS7, not LS3.

Must have LS3 on the brain. Sorry.

We're planning to use the MP122 Roots-style supercharger design for both LS3 and LS7 cars.

We also have a TVS development program in the works: an ultra-high-helix Roots style design. But then we're talking about 2009 introduction.

Is the new Callaway Magnacharger for the LS3 the new Eaton manufactured 4 lobe 1900 series?

From what I understand; Eaton has supplied GM with the TVS 1900 4 lobe positive displacement supercharger for the new 09 CTSV that uses a stock LS3 bottom end and generates 550 HP and 550 torque.

The 2300 series is used on the new ZR1 with the forged bottem end 6.2and CNC ported cylinder heads.

These new units are supposed to smaller in size than the previous generation 3 lobe magnachargers.

Can you clarify?

The Callaway Magnacharger for LS3 uses the MP122 design supercharger. Eaton supplies the rotor packs; they refer to this design as "5th Generation". This design uses high helix angle (60 degree) 3-lobe Roots-style rotors and increases a stock LS3's power to 580 bhp (SAE) with 7 psi of manifold pressure. It's capable of much higher power increases with larger displacement and/or more aggressive engine internals. This supercharger, and its smaller MP112 cousin, has been service-proven in a number of applications. Their durability and operating characteristics allow us to provide a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on the kits. We've also used them in Callaway Corvettes and Callaway C16's which are also covered by a warranty of at least 3 years or 36,000 miles.

As good as Eaton's "5th Generation" rotor design is, the "6th Generation" shows much promise. Eaton also refers to the new design as "TVS" or "Twin Vortices Series". As you point out, they have tooled up for 1900 and 2300 units and will be standard equipment on the 2009 CTS-V and ZR1. The new 4-lobe, 160 degree rotor and complementary housing design will provide higher pressure ratio capability, increased airflow capacity, higher isentropic efficiency (reduced input power requirement), and lower noise level. Callaway plans to introduce new systems for Corvette LS-engines in 2009 using the TVS supercharger design. Some of the things left for us to do include development of drive assemblies, intake manifold assemblies, intercooler assemblies, front and rear end plates, system calibration, testing and validation, emissions compliance testing, and other sub-projects.

Even though the MP122 has 2000 cc displacement and the TVS2300 has 2300 cc displacement, the two units are very similar in case size. The TVS1900 is same height and width as TVS2300, but it's 1.42" shorter.
